what exactly must one do on this site to get feedback from folks? I'm serious here...no tongue in cheek, no facetious approach to the subject. Obviously, whatever it is, I am not doing it because just about any time i've ever asked for feedback outside a challenge, I get a resounding silence.

I screwed up this week and entered the wrong file for the challenge. The damn thing had my name on it so it was promptly DQ'd. All I was hoping for was for a little feedback on that image. If I hadn't screwed up, folks who vote would have done it anyway.

Yes, I'm annoyed with myself for screwing up, but I really was hoping for something from the folks here when I asked if folks would look at it and give feedback. I've seen other people do this...post a "would you look at my outtakes" kind of thread and get all sorts of responses, so I really do need to know what I'm doing wrong.

Sorry if this sounds harsh and annoyed. I *am* harsh and annoyed today.

now that you have my attention, where's the link?

Be patient for one thing. you only posted your original request two hours ago. Some people are at work, others are asleep. It takes about 24 hours for the world to go around.

Second - a good way to get noticed is to keep your original post alive but adding anothe message to it every time it starts to sink out of site. "Bump" is the traditional word. it just means "moving this thread back up to the top".

And third- have a really good or a really bad image. it's the middle of the roaders that get the fewest comments. Sometimes no comments is a comment in and of itself.

Oh, and fourth, which doesn't apply to yo here, but don't ask for comments on a page that has 20 pictures. narrow it down to a few of your favorites. Everyone has a life too.

It's probably because the Title of this post needs to be clear as to what it's about. "just out of curiosity"? What's that mean? Plus I had to read 4 paragraphs of rant and still don't know what your question is! If it's about a pic being DQ'd, why not post a link to it so we can see it? :)

I read the post where you asked for help, and I thought you got excellent advice and words on your photo.

The time of day or night affects things, too. For example, if you post just before 12:00 am EST, your topic will not be included in the "Today's Active Topics" list, which is where I usually go to see what is being discussed.
