And why is that?? This is just a practice round for us since we don't have any real competition. |
Practice? You mean, you guys are STILL practicing? So when do you become fully fledged photographers????

Rollover on Sunday night.
Oh, and by the way... I'm going out later to shoot again for tonight's challenge. I need to top that score I have in Long Exposure.
[Note to self: don't tell anyone that you have to reshoot because you left the camera in ISO 800 and it's too noisy]

Technology can be tricky sometimes. Nevermind sweety, just remember to ask mummy how to switch to auto before you go out to play again...

No auto. I'm tempted to enter my noisy picture and still beat your score!

You better reshoot. I reshot my reflections picture and man oh man.
You gonna be wetting your pants on this one. Your pictures are all gonna shrivel up and die wishing they were this picture.
Enjoy your peace now, cause you have one more week before you start crying like the little boys you are.
:)
Now, next week [b]we[b] have a real team to go against (5D). |

Hi guys. I tried something a bit different with my "Portrait in Landscape" entry and it didn't do so well...sub 5. The comments are almost all from people who did like it. I was wondering if you guys could give me a bit of a critique on it - thanks.
Any of you Femme Fatale visitors in here are welcome to leave a comment too ;) |

Nuzzer -- I left you a comment. Also, I read his name as Furface as in surface and thought, "What an odd name for a cat." Then, I realized it is probably Fur Face. duh. |

Just wondered if you broke 5 yet! My neon picture hasn't shriveled and my pants are dry so my guess is that it isn't the shining star you thought it was.

Team, I think I'm in a slump. My average before WPL was 5.33 but since then...
Wind II: 4.73
Portrait: 4.94
...and in voting...
Self Portrait: 5.18
Long Exposure: 5.06
Reflections: 4.97
Perhaps the added pressue of WPL is getting to me? How do I get inspiration back? I look at recent winners and think "I'm nowhere near that league".
What do you guys do when you're going through this sort of phase?

That's a tough one. It seems like I go in slumps on even numbered months and do better in odd. Which is odd...
I think sometimes I try too hard for DPC and then decide to just go out and shoot something. I concentrate on what I know how to do and then do it to get my confidence back. Even if the pictures aren't anything worth keeping it's good to produce something that's at least decent.
Also, I keep trying to learn and work on the technicals. For example, if I can't think of anything interesting to shoot, I'll go to try to learn another PS technique. Or look around and find pictures that I like; I store them away in my memory waiting to grab whatever I can from them and incorporate it into my own shots.
Hope that helps.
Don't worry about WPL this week - I think we have it covered.
On another note, I chose not to enter the "feminine" version of my neon picture. I figured it would be rubbing it in when our opponents all gave it 10s...

Thanks. I think I'll try that this weekend.
As the 6th ranked member in the team I always saw myself as a "backup player". I was always confident that the team had this week in the bag but I need to get back above my average for the remaining weeks.
ETA: Thanks for the comments on my Portrait entry. I think I got tied up in the subject to step back and think objectively about the image.

Good advice. What I'm already doing is looking at ways to ensure the scores get higher. I'll continue doing that ;)

You'll just be in awe at how high our scores are.
Edit: I sure hope our opponents next week are as "lively".

A nice reality check sometimes is to ask how you would score the picture.
