Thanks everyone. Ken is here right now and he brought his laptop so I am able to get on. I hat a CT scan about an hour ago to rule out kidney stones. If it isn't the stones, they're going to cut out my appendix.
I didn't bring my camera with me, but Ken just brought his in.
I really appreciate the cards.

Mike! Good to hear from ya. You still in lots of pain? Did they give you something for that? If its appendix, when will they operate, tomorrow?

I know you are a Steelers fan, but to copy Ben and have your appendix taken out.....isn't that a bit much? |

You are hard-core into photography if you are letting some pictures of you decide whether or not to get surgery :-)
In case you want to use any of the images in the future for any project (collage, abstract stuff, whatever) you can ask for a cd-rom with the original DICOM data before you go home. you can then use open-source software to export the DICOM data as .jpg or .tiff files. Granted, the raw CT data is fairly low resolution (each image is only 512x512 pixels, or 0.25 megapixels), but they can be fun to play with. And, this way you will always have it in case you need a comparison at some point in the future.
If you do any of this, let me know if you need any help converting the data, or figuring out what is what on the images.
Anyways, best of luck! |

Just got off the phone with Mike, he has appendisitiaosoeldk(sp) not kidney stones (easier to spell). He goes in for surgery sometime between now and 4:30. I might try and sneak back up after he comes out of surgery but I'm not sure when visiting hours are over.
ps - He really liked the cards!
edit to add ps

Let him know we are all thinking of him, wishing him a speedy recovery and no ugly nurses.
This thread is going to pull his stitches. |

He didn't need that appendix anyway. He ought to see if they'll give it to him in a jar of formaldehyde and he can sell it on eBay and use the money for gear... :-) |
