I offered my services to my son's class to help with the student produced yearbook. Does anyone know of any software that I could use to put it together?
Thanks, y'all.

Pagemaker would be my guess - if its more than about 20 pages. Less than that I would go the easy route and do the layout in PowerPoint or maybe even Photoshop.

I have used the free trial version of PhotoMix for scrapbooking and I bet it would work well for a yearbook. You can probably look around at various scrapbooking software and find something that will suit your needs perfectly. |

I didn't think it would look too good from there. I offered to take photos, but they haven't gotten back to me on that. I guess they've visited my portfolio here and decided against it. HAHAHA

Adobe InDesign is a more powerful option even to PageMaker. It is competing with QuarkXPress as the industry standard layout program.
EDIT: Lacking the big money for InDesign you might want to try Microsoft Publisher. It has more options for laying out books and can even set up files for printing on an off-set press if you are printing in large quantitles.

Microsoft Publisher is (barely) OK for BW or full-color, but truly awful if you want to do spot-color. I work in pre-press for a commercial offset print shop, and Publisher is the least-favorite program we to have to output from ...
Quark and InDesign are meant for this kind of work; PageMaker is OK, but I thought Adobe had pulled it off the market by now.
Note that if you are going to print this by traditional offset methods, all of your images (and spot colors in the document, if any) must be converted to the CMYK color-space first, before placing in the layout; this may cause color shifts.
If you are going to print to a photo printer or inkjet you can leave the images in RGB because you are printing a composite image.
If you may be in the market for Photoshop, you can get InDesign as part of the Adobe "Creative Suite" which also includes Illustrator and Acrobat. If you are a student or teacher you can get these programs through Adobes "Educational Pricing" program for less than half the retail price.

I work with InDesign on a daily basis and it is very easy to use, especially when used with the other Creative Suite applications. |

I was the editor of my highschool yearbook, and we used InDesign. It's a great piece of software. |
