I saw a comment on someones photo (not mine) that said that they had seen the photo on another web site and liked it, however it "wasn't ethical". I am curious about how people feel about this. When did it become a crime to use sites OTHER than DPC? Especially if you can get help, or advice. Some people dont have access to "live" critics, and go online for help and advice. Is this wrong?
I don't see anything wrong with trying to better your photography. The only way we can do this is with research, and advice from "teachers".
I think that for the people who don't have "live, in person" critics, this is a great alternative, and an excelent opportunity to get the "perfect" photo.
I'd like to hear everyone's opinion on this. Do YOU feel it's unethical to request critiques from other web sites to help compose and perfect your photo submissions??

I don't think it's unethical. I prefer not to post a photo at another site until a challenge is done so that I can remain as anonymous as possible, but I wouldn't discount or vote differently on someone's photo if I saw it elsewhere.

I don't think it unethical either. However, I have recently stopped submitting DPC pics elsewhere until after the challenge has ended.

I agree, how is it unethical? It seems to me that these are our images and we can pretty much do as we please as long as we remain onside with the DPC rules. Learning comes from many sources. Comments and instruction should not be limited. If there was something else to gain, like a prize, or money, then there may be an issue. But, the result of the DPC site is just learning and friendly responses to our creative efforts.

I post my photos all over the place usually. If it's unethical, give me a one and move on to the next photo :)
