I think I changed something accidently... My images are comming out of the camera looking like they have been neat imaged... Not natural. Any ideas?

can you post something and give details on how the camera was set.

The only images I have taken were challenge related so i think they would call it an out take. At first I thought it was just me or maybe my monitor until I got a comment that said it looked like digital art.
And I didnt neat image it and did very basic editing. I guess I need to wait till after the challenge to ask.

I adjusted alot trying to get my images to focus vs blur....

Guess I could reset the settings and start over.

any chance you could just run outside with the camera set the way you had take a few shots and post that with the tech data.

resized only

f6
iso 200
1/125
focal lenght 80mm
28-80
metering mode pattern

and I focused on the top of the hat not the rim

No matter what I try, I cannot get a crisp shot that does not need sharpening. And then they are smooth sort of like neat imaged.... see? or is it me?

It looks to me that the focus is on the "brim" of the hat. Is that what you planned? the middle of the hat looks soft and the brim looks sharp IMO.

unless I am doing something wrong, I took the shot with the center of the image being the focal point. If You can change that in settings I did and don't know it or how to undo it......

When you are focusing...what "black box" is dark in the viewfinder? Is the center one "dark" or is it one of the others around the perimeter?

interesting, it depends i focused on my eye tree and and moved the camera slightly and the boxed changed .... I think I am learing something... is there a way to make it stay center?

Edit to add. Yes I have a book, but I am not doing well learning from it, so I have to trial and error.

That is surely your problem ! Your cam is set up strange!....There are many focusing settings in the "settings". I don't have my cam with me so someone else will have to give you the info. I'll post later tonight if no one answers....

Your booklet surely has the answers for you.

Make sure the little box is in the center like skid said and then slide the little plastic thing just above the Trash can on the back to L. That will lock the focus point to the center and shouldn't move on you.

Well now I know what the L is for lol, thank you. Is there a site for best settings?

This question actually got me the answers to a few questions, I was having problems with DOF too, and exposure. I can now take a picture of that hat with a shallow dof and a perfectly clear one of the entire hat. Thanks guys!!!

Let me whip mine out and see what we can see.....
Do you have any Optimize image set....mine is set for SH: Sharper
What Autofocus setting do you have on....mine is on AF-S
What AF-area mode do you have on....mine is [ ]Closest subject (Might explain the brim and not the top of the hat)
Is your AF assist ON?
and finally. Is your Menu Reset on No?

OK that is all I got....Hope it helps....Maybe other responses will help me as well.....Thx!

ooops....sorry...looks like you got your answer....OK?
