Hello all,

I am relatively new to photography and I'am learning a lot every day. I heard there was going to be a solar eclipse this friday morning and I wanted to take some shots. What settings does everyone suggest I use.

Thanks in advance.

There will be a total LUNAR eclipse this thursday in which the moon will turn blood red:

And for you lucky folks in Iceland and northern Scottland, I hope you'll get pictures for us of the annular (ring-shaped) SOLAR eclipse to come on May 31! I believe it will be a total solar eclipse for those high lattitudes; it will be a partial solar eclipse for the rest of us in the northern hemisphere: namely western Europe (I don't think Germany, though, sorry!) and the U.S.

But be careful if you photograph the solar eclipse: you'll need a special filter, and you'll not want to look directly at the sun, yada yada yada.

Nice Shots Pitsaman what settings did you use? (apeture/shutter speed)
Do you use auto white balance?

Thanks

Yes good shots Pitsaman but i you get the exposure just right you can get some detail on the moon.Like this.
But for really good detail you need a very big lens or better still a telescope.Like this.
When the moon is fully eclipsed it will go very dark sometimes nearly invisible but normally it will be easily visible and some shade of red/orange but exposure times could be longish.
