Your opinion has ben duly noted. But, I REALLY can't go that high. Even used their out of my range. I know, I know....there's a reason they cost more. So do Mercedes and BMW's, but for now, I can only dream.

Nothing personal against HP/Compaq. HP actually has some INCREDIBLE customer service. I work for FedEx and can't tell you how many laptops/monitors/pc units I have picked up to send in for service, only to have it back in the customers hands within a week.
Taking into consideration money, screen, etc,etc.....I think I narrowed it down to Toshiba Qosmio G35 AV600, Toshiba Satellite P105-S6064 and Dell 9400/E1705. You can make an argument for, or against, each one. Though, I'm still open to other suggestions. May still be a week before I place an order.

I'v used a HP nx6120 for about a year now. No problems - it has 1400 x 1050, 15.4 screen; 80g HD; 1G ram. Second HP I'v had. I can't really go into the "why" its good. I just like the feel of it. I'v used 3 Toshibas through work and have'nt liked them and always seem to have a problem with them. Niggly problems - but it destroyed my faith in them.

Looks like all 3 are good, vista ready nice screens ect... If you do buy the dell don't purchase any of their tech support unless you speak what ever it is they speak in India. Probably the same thing with toshiba I imagine. I hate tech support, and I really hate that companies try and charge for it. |

Sorry Taj. I didn't mean to imply they were bad laptops. But, the HP's/Compaq's I've used didn't really impress me. I do wish more companies would follow their lead with the numberpad on the right side.

I'm not to worried about Vista. I might be one of the few that likes XP. As for the tech support, I think I can handle most software related issues. I haven't had to call tech support for my DELL or my Acer in the time I've had them. So, all should be good in that case.
Added:In my search of EBay I have uncovered a WHOLE bunch of scammers. That's why the HP link at the top shows it's been removed. There's about 4-5 others that have been removed since I started looking. 'Buyer beware'....right?
