Frequently in the forums I see requests for how to calculate the last vote received. The formula is actually rather simple, and someone invariably posts it. Some people even have Excel spreadsheets for it.

I thought I'd share mine, which includes some bonus features.

Not only can you calculate your last vote recieved, but you will be able to see the effect of your current challenge results on your DPC Lifetime Average.

Looking to improve your lifetime average? You'll also be able to enter "pretend" values - for instance, if you got 200 more votes of 6.5, what's that going to do for your lifetime average?

Lastly, there's a handy dandy graph so you can visualize those ups and downs.

The best of all is that the math is already done for you! No complicated calculations for YOU...just enter your starting numbers, like the # of votes, your current score, and your lifetime stats -- and the information appears like magic!

There are three tabs in the worksheet, so be sure to explore.

Get it here. Enjoy!

What I need is something that will tell me which photos of mine will score the highest so I can enter the right one or not enter any if need be. :P

It's the total of all your scores added together. It's not really useful for us to know, but it's a required number for the spreadsheet equation to work :)

Just a bump for Bokeh and After the Game participants :)

Well, thanks for your efforts. However, there is an error in the spreadsheet somewhere. I didn't look at the formulas or the statements you used, but it gives an error every time after the first score is entered. It tells me that my average score must be greater than 1 but less than 10 (which the score I entered was) and does not calculate unless you switch from that tab to another and back again. I'll look at it later when I have a minute. Right now I have a meeting to go to...gonna fire someone. Ohhh.....the big bad boss is going to put someone on unemployment...and here I am worried about a spreadsheet.

Ok, for the record I hate doing things like this, but this person has earned his place in line. Two assaults on co-workers and three consecutive days of being sent home for being drunk upon arrival for work (6 a.m....who drinks that early or stays up all night getting drunk when they have to work?) So anyway, after I tend to this little matter I will look at the spreadsheet.

had the same error, try writing scores with commas instead of dots

I'm ON it! If you are having troubles, please let me know what version of Excel you are using. It was designed in Excel 2003.

It seems to be something with the validations in column B. I was able to enter a number in cell B12, but then nothing after that. I just copied Cell b12 and used paste special, value only (otherwise the formatting is copied too) and then overtyped the value. Seemed to work.

Fyi, I'm using Excel 2004 for the mac.

Thanks for your PM, Laurie, i don't really have trouble, i just had to enter the numbers with commas instead of dots (Excel 2004 for Mac, German Version 11.0). Works fine now.

ok, trying to work the sheet again. Got a question and another bug to report:

question: What is the purpose of this sectoin - "Analysis of Voting Patterns Required to Obtain Desired Average Score" and how does it work? I don't get what it is supposed to tell you since when I enter values the results make absolutely no sense.

bug: In this section - "Analysis of Effect of Current Challenge Voting on Lifetime Average" I cannot enter any values as the cells are protected and it requires a password to unprotect them which I don't have.

bug: No matter how many numbers I enter, it never generates a graph.

Also, I tried using commas instead of periods and got the same error message.
