I know there are a number of people who are going to consider it highly ironic that I am the instigator of this post. Melethia ribbed me a few days ago and agenkin loves to roll his eyes at my stuff (we've talked, and we're ok with that).
BUT
I do see a certain self-fulfilling prophecy on DPC concerning what works here and what doesn't. I catch myself perpetuating these stereotypes in my comments I leave on other people's shots. (I tend to have a section called "The game" for those who are looking to boost their scores.)
I was thinking of starting a thread to show people that images which go against the stereotyped DPC shot can still do well. Of course people must realize that these shots still need to be executed flawlessly, but they can succeed.
So show off your own (or other) shots which go against a stereotype we have on DPC which have also scored well. List the stereotype above.
Stereotype: Religious themes do not do well.
Philup Score: 7.1000
Stereotype: Saturation rules DPC
e301 Score: 7.0303
Stereotype: Free Studies are all about landscapes and portraits
Breeee123 Score: 7.3553

Philup is a master of contrast and texture; e301 is a master, period; and the one from Breeee happens to be a very nicely done saturated landscape portrait. :-) |

I didn't say you didn't have to be good. :) You have to be good period to get scores like that...

Stereotype: It's all about Photoshop
Me Score: 7.1986
Had to use one of my own shots for this one since I don't know how much/little other shots are processed. This had nearly no PP work.

I broke the rules about feet and insects. Of course, that challenge was a special exception. |

Did you guys in your college days have regular marches where women would "Take Back the Night"? Meaning they didn't want to live in fear of robbery/rape/violence, etc?
It was a poorly executed parody...

Ummmm, we had regular meetings of mass consumption of alcohol ... which might explain why I'm a underpaid photographer and not a Doctor... LOL

(I wish I COULD'VE photoshopped this one, it's filled with Scotch-tape-mistakes (watch very carefully ;-))
