Magical, just magical.....
Yes into my favorites it goes.....

I especially appreciate this comment. It means a lot that someone who spends as much time as you do viewing photos would choose another one of mine to add to their favorites. I've been so honored twice by you now. Thanks a lot.

Another on the same photo last night:

By SandyP: How in the world could you "forget" a photo like this!!!! I'd like to see the rest of your collection!!! This is about as dramatic and striking as you could get. An Outdoor Photographer magazine cover.

Thanks Sandy for all the exclamation points. I knew that I recognized your username...and when I looked at your profile I saw why. Your image, 'The Christmas Card' is one of my favorites. If anybody hasn't seen this one, then you should definitely check it out.

OK - This one was from Posthumous - ofcourse - but really made me smile. I loved his interpretation of this image:

very good emotive yet enigmatic expressions. they are also interacting in a visually potent way, one leaning into the other. I would even say there is a hidden conflict. Be careful or you'll turn into an artist!

One of my favorites because I got a poem :)

Comment by DianaB:
A WISH
Make a wish, just one wish,
and hope it comes true.
See the scene of a dream
the one that's for you.
Take a breath, purse your lips,
then blow steadily
on the light fluffy seeds
spread out readily.
Watch them dance on the breeze
and fly on their wing,
see them twirl in the air
while they're journeying.
May the seeds and the wish
find land and take root
and the right kind of care
to flower and to fruit.
Sorry - couldn't resist. Perfect photo to go with this poem I once wrote!

It's hard to choose just one. Some very special people have taken on the task of giving me excellent feedback.

Here's one that made my day; for obvious reasons!

Comment by LucidLotus:
I like the different portrayal of the number 10. The composition is good. Lighting looks good though maybe a smidge too harsh. Focus is okay, though I'm not sure if its so raw and harsh looking just because of the light or if some oversharpening or overcontrasting has been used. The different textures are nice and I like the earthy colors and how they interact with one another. I really enjoy the choice of counting to four to depict ten. I gave a 5

I've chosen the following comment not because it says something sugary about the image - it doesn't, not because any technical advice was spot on - none was given... but because it was a simple and honest thought and one that I believe basically nailed the reason why my shot's score was mediocre. Let's face it, how many times have we all thought the same thing, but never said it?

By jmlelii on my Free Study XIII entry: I'm not sure what to make of this photo...

Brilliant :)

This comment was given during the challenge. He was dead on.

e301: Interesting; My first reaction is that the exposure lacks some control - has the impression of being brought back too far from over-exposed, or something, and I find the visibility of the cow's shoulder unsettles the composition a bit - my eye can't help but be pulled there - a slightly tighter crop might have made that balance more comfortable. background is something of a problem, not working with your subjects very happily; but the idea, overall, I like, and it's been a lot more fun to look at than most.

Coming from you Don, who writes the most interesting comments that I've read here in a while, that's a nice compliment.

Thanks, Ed! I'm blushing!

now, I'll try to keep this thread going with a great comment I received yesterday.

Comment by hihosilver:
Wow. A piece of wood and the skin of an onion. With the skill of the masters, you managed to remove the mundane and let your artistry unfold into a perfectly blended world of crisp detail, texture, lines and color. Somehow this image brings to my mind the painting of Van Gogh's boot...the simple and mundane transformed into timeless art. Beautiful!

...but, it's hard to choose between all the nice comments I've received on my pictures since I joined just 10 days ago.

THIS IS EXCELLENT!!! I mean, looks so professional. The colors and the leading line - the perspective, the light. Man, you hit a winner with this. Adding to favs right now.

Really makes one want to keep on trying when comments like this are received.

It's always nice when someone puts together the clues you've left for the viewer. :D

I appreciate all comments, and want to thank everyone.

But I also wanted to point out what IMHO makes a good "positive" comment. If don't have any criticism, and you just want to say you like a photo, try to take a moment and say specifically what you like about the photo. Is there some detail in the composition, tones, lighting, etc. that really makes the photo work for you? If so, being specific can be very helpful to the photographer (in future work). For example:

On my single tree image:

An example of this is the comment by:

Jutilda

"Lovely vista. The cool greens and blues are great together. I like how the shape of the tree almost mimics the clouds' irregular edges. bumping up 8"

Maybe a slightly tighter crop, especially with those nice eyes, who knows. 'Once bitten twice shy'.

a very good comment, made all the better in that macrothing said he (?) wouold come back and comment, and he did, even after the rollover!

I've had some very good, detailed and extemely constuctive comments in my short time on DPC, but this was my very first. Imagine the scene; I have a pretty low opinion of my pics, and dither about ever entering. But within seconds of posting my first picture I receive such a compliment that for a moment I believe I can take pictures! (After that things went down hill, but I still remember that day.)

Hey Leroy! I actually gave this one a pretty high score, and that's rare for me with this sort of shot. You did a really nice job of the glow PP (yes I understand you did it the hard way, not with a plugin, but it's still "glow") and I'm actually surprised this didn't make it into the high 6's.

Jutilda to my Highcontrast II entry after voting.

I'm disappointed at the voters. They have no idea what high contrast means. This is sooo good. Should've been top 10 at least.

OdysseyF22I feel almost silly commenting on your images - you're so far ahead of me that I'm just in awe. Anyone who says that photography isn't an art should have a look at these. Truely amazing. I think this is my favorite of them all.

Is it ok to post comments from challenges that are currently being voted on? I just got one that totally brightened my day.
