The third place entry in Electricity has been recalculated due to failure to provide an accurate original.
Congratulations to GuGi for third place, and we apologize for the delay. |

Ah... I was expecting the reason for DQ to be due to, ahem, a "Power Failure". ;-)

Thats what I was thinking, especially since the reason is original not provided in 48 hours. Seems someone missed their chance at the front page views. Congrats GuGi!

How about a new small section on the front page -- "Recent ribbons due to recalculations?"

Another strip below the last-listed challenge could work -- I like it, as long as it doesn't start getting too big : (

Only time I can see it being a problem is multiple DQ's and recalcs due to repeated cheating or ghost accounts. Otherwise, you'd probably rarely have a large section.

Good 1 :)
Thanks all! I was very surprised. When the 48 hours were gone and nothing happened, I was pleased with my 4th and thought that maybe I would get a ribbon one day, being so close for the first time.
I know that place were the bridge shot is taken and last time I was there it was all dark. So we went for a drive one night to take a look and it has been lit up in a magnificent way. Wether that shot/result is possible in basic, I don't know.
(Had not even seen this thread :) ) |

Thank you sweet Becky :)
That Nikon Logo reminds me of how much our No-name team needs a name - and a logo :) |

It always makes me feel bad for all parties concerned because of a DQ. I got my first (of only three) ribbons because of a DQ. I've never felt good about that, ever, whether mine was deserved or not. I strongly believe in following the rules. What bothers me is that such things happen in the first place.

Why in the world did this take so long? The challenge has been over since Sept 19th. Add 48 hours time to submit the photo and it should be over. We should have known by Sept 22. Some explanation is required from SC.

I don't know what happen but I can easily see how this would drag out. Perhaps the photographer said he/she was going to get the original to them so they gave him/her extra time out of courtesy or the SC is simply backed up with other validations.

We're not talking a little delay, this is big time. I would think ribbon winners would take priority over other validations. The DQ'd photo was very suspicious for illegal processing. I'm just very surprised. I have a lot of respect for SC, but I think they dropped the ball here. |

Congrats Guci - Guðrún :o) Sorry your ribbon didn´t make the front page, but, it is well deserved AND it is a nice ribbon ... May it be the first of many... (trying to think up a good name :o) |

Aaarrghh! WAY too long! Especially when there was a bit of suspicion raised about the image and the acount used to submit it in the first place!
...I killed and ate a perfectly good crow for nothing! :( Someone get me a toothpick.
Edit to add: CONGRATULATIONS, gugi! I second the motion to put a row on the front page for those who did not get their fair share of the limelight. And I don't comprehend the "not feeling good about getting a ribbon because someone else was DQ'd" - the feeling should be anger (in some cases, anyway) about being deprived of your rightful spot. I don't think any exceptions should be made to the 48 hour rule either - if they are, how about making exceptions to the "submit by the deadline" rule as well? Everyone has the same issues with time, etc.
ok, enough ranting. just trying to expel the taste of bird guts from my mouth.

Well, it happens, you know. Sometimes even the mighty SC misses something or another. C'est la vie.
