I tried to sharpen this a bit and correct the out of focus look. My son is way too fast for a camera. I took this in bright sunlight on a tripod and he still blurred it.

Any way to sharpen it more, or do you think it will make 5x7 prints ok?

What a cutie! It's not super ultra sharp like most DPC voters like, but it should be just fine for a personal print especially if you don't try to enlarge it. :)

Sometimes when I have a slightly OOF shot that won't sharpen up, I'll go the other way in PP and emphasize the softness... just a thought.

yeah it actually has a nice quality to it... and the suggestion to enhance the softness is a good one. trying to sharpen too much may add unwanted noise/jaggedys.

I think I might try that. I just have not really printed many things, and hope that it will look ok when on paper.

you could try something like this.. dupe layer > gaussian blur > set the gaussian layer to multiply blend mode > adjust opacity to your liking :)

hope that helps

This is what it looks like if you run Focus Magic on it, for whatever that's worth. It would work a little more subtly on a full-size original in preparation for printing.

Nice image. I think 'you' blurred the photo. Might be the wind moving the tripod or maybe your shutter speed was not high enough, or you shook the camera while pressing the shutter button. I think it will print ok at that size.
