I wonder if an added chat room on this site would generate bandwitdh problems... if so, maybe we could get a live chat forum setup somewhere to congregate occasionally...

My experience with sites of this size where any sort of rating is going on is that official chat rooms are a bad idea. Cliques form among the people who frequent the chat rooms, and people get to know each other a little too well to be able to stay unbiased in the rating process. Inside the cliques, people will show each other bunches of photos they take for each challenge and ask for advice on which to post.

It's okay with smaller sites, where everyone on the site is just one clique, and it's okay with much larger sites where the cliques are tiny compared to the number of votes. But on a site of this size, I don't think it's a good idea. Not yet, anyway.

Reuben, are you by any chance referring to a certain site that we both know that has a chatroom? :o)

This probably happens anyway and that doesn't really bother me. It would have to be a really 'large' clique to sway the voting significantly...

One or two votes can change an average. I agree. I have also noticed that many chatrooms end up with resident hecklers. I think the way this forum is done keeps the juvenile behavior to a minimum.
