I went to the zoo for the first time in 15 years. If you like to look at such photos, here they are. They were taken with the 70-200 f4L and the 24-105 f4L. Caveat: I was too lazy to lug a tripod around, so... |

0059 is my favorite! those orang's photo soooooooooooo well :-) To bad there isn't another "framed" challenge goin at present. Slight crop and some blur on those ceiling panel grids and you'd have a ribbon ;-). Nice shots and hopefully you had a nice day at the zoo :-)

I think the trick with zoo shots is to either incorporate the manmade structures into the shot or try to omit them all together. For me the dolphin shots and the giraffe suffer because of the obvious 'zoo' background, but I think it works with the polar bear and the first rhino shot. At least on my monitor it looks like they could do with a little more contrast to make the animals stand out. Other than keeping an eye on your backgrounds, they look pretty good for a first try at the zoo. Which zoo was it?

Brookfield Zoo. I was asked if I wanted to go, so I went and took pictures. They are just snapshots so that's about it. |

I love this one...
At the Philly zoo, all the monkeys are behind glass. It really makes it hard to get pictures.

I love the colors on mandrils. Unfortunately at the San Diego Zoo they are in an area where you are lucky if you can even see them. Last time I went I made the mistake of wearing a white shirt which did not help at all with reflections on the animals in glass cages. Need to remember black for next time! You had some nice lighting conditions it looks like- not too harsh. Most everything here is outdoors so evening is when I tend to get my best zoo shots. Now that I have a new camera I need to go back again. [/url] |

A bump before I delete the bulk of them to save space. |
