Wow...I am surprised. I ribboned in a subject that I have never enjoyed and nearly didn't enter. But this time around was different.
I was out shooting with a couple of students when I saw these tiny thistles (about 1.5 Cm or less than half an inch). I had hoped to find a dandelion or something but these were about the closest I could find. The only problem was, the slightest movement meant they fell to pieces. So one of the ladies carefully carried the thistles in the back of the car while I drove home.
I then had them sitting on the kitchen bench for a couple of days, which resulted in a couple of them being blown by curious children....arrrggghhh!!
I finally got the chance to do some shots with my 50mm 1.8 reveresed onto my 100m 2.8 in Manual mode. I got some incredible results and really had a hard time deciding. But went with this one and was glad I did.
I have also uploaded 3 others and had them all approved for print.
So thanks everyone for giving me a huge smile this week.

I'd imagine those outtakes would have done pretty well also.

Very nice work all of them Judi! I think you picked the best one of the bunch, though you probably would have scored well with any. Congrats on the ribbon! GO Team Untouchables!!! |

Great work and congratulations Judi! Well deserved ribbon and I think these would have done great if not ribboned as well!

There all amazing. But I think you chose the best one. What did you use for the background? |

I used a bright purple cloth for the background...you can actually see it more clearly in the purple image...but because I changed angles I actually had our front garden showing in the challenge entry image....hence the different hues.

For a brief moment I was gripped with this terrible fear that you were going to say "my computer monitor!" ;)
