Someone asked me about the lighting setup for my day 6. SB 800, 1/4 power w/ omibounce on. F/22 and 1/250th, ISO 200.

Still much dumber that even I imagined it would be. Glad I got it off in just 2 shots, I was snowblind for a few minutes. (I did a few test shots with my eyes closed.)

Day 7 - Still slackin.

I do it every three years, the moving thing. I don't know if I could actually stay somewhere for more than three years at this point! But this is my first overseas move, so it's a bit more complicated. I'm trying to sort stuff that'll go into storage, stuff that'll go with the mass shipment, and stuff that can go in the "it'll get there a little quicker but can't be very much" shipment. As well as deciding how much I can actually carry with me while trying to carry two cat carriers.

It's interesting. :-)

I do have one from this weekend I may post tonight, then I'll try to shoot something tomorrow.

You guys are good for my ego. :-) I still don't like looking at me, but I dislike it less than when we started. Sometimes it's nice to see one's self through the eyes of others, isn't it?

Day 8 for me. Feeling a little better today. Thanks for the kind words yesterday.

And Melethia, if I can do this, you can too. I have a lazy eye which can make me look totally crossed eyed at time and I hate head shots. This is a challenge for me as well. That is what it is all about to me. Learning new techniques and stepping way out of my comfort zone. I take more shots doing this looking at different angles to make up for my imperfection. Your pictures are fine girl. Hang in there.

Deb,

Don't quit. Right now, I'm spending probably 45 minutes total taking my shot and processing it. You are doing so much better. Even if you can't do every day, do every other day or something.

BTW, where you moving to?
09/12/2006 08:53:08 PM · #1009
Oh, I don't plan to quit entirely, but I really do need to spend just a wee bit less time on the computer in general. :-)

That said, here's my pseudo Day 8, which was really taken this weekend. And I'm moving to Germany - Mainz-Kastel, to work for AAFES-Europe. Ain't that a hoot? In my career field, we NEVER get to go overseas. And now that I'm getting to go, I'll probably get SERB'd (selective early retirement board) and told I have to retire by 1 Sept of next year. But hey, at least I'll get there! And if I recall, I get one year from my retirement date to move back to my home of record. I could take that year and be the oldest person in hostels as I tour Europe...

I loved it when I was stationed in Germany. Had a blast. Now that I have gotten into photography, I would love to go again. But I am retireing in February so unless I take a vacation there...not gonna happen. Good luck to ya.

I haven't been lucky enough to be stationed in Germany, but I've been there. You're going to love it. Make sure you take weekend trip to France, The Netherlands, Luxembourgh and Italy. Lotsa photo ops.
