I think mask will help me select the areas I want to adjust (not the gentleman) the truck and sky. I can't figure out mask for the life me. Can anyone put it in just a few lines vs paragraphs.

I'm really not an idiot guys, I had an car accident years ago and sometimes I just have a hard time getting the just of something if the directions are long and printed. Show me once and I rairly forget.

A mask is an extra channel in Photoshop. If you have an adjustment layer selected, and you look at the Channels Palette, you'll see an extra one which is the (adjustement) layer mask. You can draw/paint on that with any of the normal tools in grayscale mode; you have the option to set whether the painted area is the selection or the mask. Areas which are gray will be "partially selected" meaning the adjustment will be applied to a limited degree.

That what the General said. Another handy thing about masks is you can use some filters on them as well. I often use a gaussian blur on a mask to soften up the outside areas.

That's because a mask is exactly the same as a saved selection, and filters work on selections.

Use the menu Select > Load Selection and you should get a drop-down list of all masks available. Layer masks may only be available if you have the Adjustment Layer picked as the active layer; other wise they can be hidden. You can Save Selection for any you plan to use over and over, and it will become an "alpha channel" and available to load from all layers -- it will also add data to your file (33% bigger from RGB to RGB+alpha channel).

konador has a great layer mask (video, even!) here. I highly recommend it.
