Kick em out............

Most of them have made more comments than votes.
Their not interested in helping anyone here, they just want to help themselves.

Their just having fun. What does it matter what comments they leave.

I like your style Jimmythefish. Some of these folks seem to assume that everyone on this site has the same amount of time to devote. I would guess a handful of people on this site use the "ctrl V" so they can do their part, (the best they can).

If these comments were directed towards you Fiver, and you were wrongly suspected. I think it would matter a great deal to you.

I'm not defending these guys for any reason other than I find this entire rant quite offensive.

If you suspect foul play from one of the members, simply alert an admin and move on. To single people out in here is just wrong.

If they none of them had made any comments (just voted and left no feedback), none of this would even be in the forums. I don't think they should be kicked out just b/c they leave the same comments - they're not even offensive comments. I just don't see what the problem is.

My hat is off, to the guy who makes more comments than votes.
It clearly shows he's not here to sway the votes in his favor.

Suspected of what? I just said that they are probably friends and they leave similar comments. At least that what I thought I said. If you interpreted them differently, hey I'm sorry. I should have smiled when I said it.

I have no problem with their comments. I even flagged them 'Helpful'.

Sorry dude, I put you in the wrong light.

When you said: Their just having fun. What does it matter what comments they leave.
I thought you were defending the singling out of members in the forum.

Come on poeple! Nobody is getting kicked out! This isn't study hall.

They are just comments, and I'd rather have them than some of the truly meaningless ones I've gotten in the past.

Let it go!!!

Hey again folks!

I wasn't suggesting (in my original post on the subject) that anyone should get kicked out. I was only observing and sharing with you what I thought was a very funny way of commenting on photos. Obviosly ctrl+c and ctrl+v is a very useful tool if you want to say the exact same thing on 40 or 200 photos that you like. It's just not something I myself would do on a regular basis.

It's very interesting however to see that there are a lot of these "commentators" around, and that they are using the same (type of) camera. If it is true that a high-school teacher is using dpchallenge as one of his teaching methods I would think us here would be saying to that guy "thanks but no thanks". But I guess the only way to keep out non-wanted voters or commentators is to just sign up and use the members only challenges... which I have not done yet.

so I'll just shut up!!

Look forward to getting a "useful" stamp on my comments in the future... ;)

cheers from sunny Iceland,
Pétur Guðnason

ps
my "Fauna" stinks, but the "Transportation" is all good!

Heather and I have investigated this matter and found out that a few of the accounts mentioned are a few guys and gals in a high school class, thus no multiple accounts.

As for the repeated commenting, I mentioned to one of them that " If you feel that each shot is "nice" and "sharp", then by all means continue commenting as such. "

Thanks for pointing this out, btw.

I think this is a great project for a school photgraphy class, and as long as they follow the same guidelines as everyone I have no problem with it at all. I expect the quality and variety of their comments will improve as they learn more.

That's a very noble sentiment, but somehow I think that the fact they're just copying one comment over and over, not even bothering to alter it, smacks of laziness and cynicism. If they had a genuine interest in doing this, they probably WOULD be varying their comments.

But I'm right along with you on it being a great high-school project - I would have loved to do something like this in school, and whoever the teacher is deserves some praise for thinking of it.

hey had a thought , what if the class actually dissects every pic submitted, and has a discussion on it , but then cos they can't be bothered typing their half hour discusion, could even be a debate on all the pics, they just write their 'nice pice, good job' comment!

we use to do that media class with adverts, everyone threw their 2penneth worth , and then we each wrote an essay on it!

however what would you have 'nice pic, good job'
or
'i'm giving you a 1'
or
'terrible, don't bother in the future,'

how many times do we see 'i get so many 1's and no -body justifies them'
in this forum? and now this

no wonder ppl don't want to comment, when your trouble to comment gets you a naming and shaming!

ps it IS bruce lee, RIP Bruce.

I remember when I first started phtography that making a good or helpful comment was really hard. Why ? I didn't know the right way to put into words what I liked. Such as composition, clairity or use of thirds. I just knew what my eye liked or didn't like. I think maybe this being students they might have a similar problem that with time will improve. That's what we're here for right? To learn?

Just my view of it:)

Actually, they are accessing DPC through the same computer at school. Look how long it takes one person to make thoughtful comments on a few photos. Then look at how long it takes 7 people to do that same thing. (there are actually 7 people in the class doing this). They are pressed for time, and probably still want to make some kind of comment. Lighten up guys.

LOL, wish i had spamming lessons at school.

Obviously they haven't broken any rules. So I don't understand why some people would say to throw them out. I just thought it was a bit weird. But on the other hand, they are high school kids that actually wrote a whole statement without using any "web-talk" or acronyms. That in and of itself is a good job ;)

Actually what made me wondering to begin with is that my Fauna entry is terrible and got a "nice pic, good job" comment... that's all!

Cheers!

This is the first post that I have made in a forum since I have been a member of DPChallenge. I haven't commented on any photos either. I do vote most of the time.
If I am going to be singled out like the people you are discussing I am not sure that I want to make any comments ever . I came here to learn and I am a shy person. I think that people need to get the feel of a place
before they are comfortable in commenting on photos. I read these forums and try to learn what is expected.

GeeGee

Spam is unsolicited. By entering a photo, one is soliciting comments. The quality or style may not suit everybody, but we are all allowed to vote and comment as we see fit...I don't see entering the same comment repeatedly as violating any rules.
