I took this shot 2 days before the theme was posted. I thought that it turned out cool and wanted to share it with everyone. Any comments on it would be appreciated. I kept the length of he photo and just cropped out some of the foreground. Thanks.

It's a great Photo, but it seems to be lacking something to make it a Blue Ribbon (IMHO).

lol. That's why it's an outtake. Sheesh. ;)

Excellent shot Jeremy. Very dramatic. What sutter speed did you use?

I would have scored that one very highly -- perhaps even a 10. I love it!

Me too, great color, probably get a 9 or a 10. Better to see transporation in ACTION rather than just sitting there.

The shutter speed that I used was 1/160 and Aperature was F5.6

It was fun shooting those, I have three of them one right after another.

Cool shot ! Too bad you didn't go back and take the shots again for the challenge.

Awesome shot! It really does look straight out of an advertisement.

Ohh. I thought it was an Outtake because it wasn't shot during the submition dates.

This post was very disheartening. I was so pleased to have something to submit to the transportation challenge and was quite optimistic that, for once , it wouldn't generate 'doesn't meet challenge' comments. Now it seems all i will be getting is 'where's the action? 1' useful feedback. Not ready yet for action shots with the g3 :)

I definitely wouldn't be disheartened, Journey. This is just one of an infinite number of possible interpretaions. I don't think that anyone thinks that 'action' is a requirement.

I second what magnetic says, Journey. I'm not going to vote down because it's not an action shot. I've got a totally different idea for a transportation photo that isn't action at all, it's going to be more abstractish. I've got to go on Monday or Tuesday to shoot it. So don't worry about anything. I'm sure you'll have something good.

hey hey! I just wanted to share. I may have missed the transportation dates to submit here, but I just found out I got POTD on the other site for one of my Truck splash photo's. Here is the link to that photo-

That's awesome Jeremy, I knew it was a good photo when you posted it here. Are there no exposure date restrictions on that site? How do you like it over there?

Not a requirement but usually transportation has motion :)

Transportation requires an idea of some sort of vehicle or movement device (feet included).

I'm all for meeting the challenge - I just don't close my eyes and think of the ONLY acceptable meaning to that before I see the shots others came up with.

(and I think that action means "travel" as much as "transportation" and there was already a travel challenge - how was this one different from that?)

Here's my challenge entry that wasn't, since I tried to submit it too late. I like the shot but not sure how it would do. When I hit the submit button, I got the calculating results screen so I knew it was too late.

Well maybe next time...

So in your opinion, a stationary ship, car, or bike wouldnt qualify as meeting the challenge?

Thanks

I like the splash shot a lot, too bad about it being outside the challenge dates. Look forward to seeing your entry :)

Actually have a few outtakes (did a lot of work on this one!! (Fauna was such a disaster for me (see previous forum post on the subject))).

Let's take a look:
