.... and sometimes the viewer just doesn't see things the way you do. (and I know all about that!)

Last week I got one or two comments suggesting i should remove the rolling pin from my picture. Just take it out. Well why would i do that? I'd be left with a space in my image that's just a gaping hole with no purpose. The person didn't suggest any alternative, and as far as I'm concerned it was fine there. it was food related and was better than an empty space.

Why include bowls of ingredients such as flour, eggs, suger in a photo of muffins when the muffins are already made and steaming hot? The ingredients are obviously not going to be used to make the muffins for the picture, they just add an interesting feel. Sure, they could be taken out, but what good will that do?

i think I've lost myself babbling on again..... *sigh*

I have received a few comments that were without tact. Learning from them, I try to be careful to word things carefully so as not to offend. We ARE artists here, and artists and musicians are notoriously sensitive. It is to be expected, when you open your work up to public scrutiny, that you are going to have to take some hits. So I prepare myself for less than discreet comments, and glean the constructive criticism. Sometimes I must chew on the meat and spit out the bones. That's fine with me, but I try hard to make the critique fair and easy to digest. It's a matter of respecting all other people and their art. Don't need a disclaimer for that! Just think before you "speak."
Ok...stepping down from my milk crate now. :-))
