A lot of good things happened to me these past two weeks.

Here's the latest:

Now I am off to the 2nd round and to the trip-around-the-world grand prize. Not bad to dream, huh.

Another one: I had a weekend workshop in Singapore. And I had 32 satisfied participants. I am so honored to have Lawrence record the behind-the-scenes shots which you can see here:

As of this writing, my next 3 workshop sessions are almost full so I have to go back there on the 23rd and 24th of September to fulfill my promise to other nationalities (my first one was exclusive to Filipinos only).

And lastly, my Kharunisia gallery at pbase is still among the top galleries for almost a month now. After only one month of existence, it is now the 29th most favorite all-time gallery there. Here's the link:

And UNICEF contacted me about the use of my picture for one of their important portfolios for 2007. Not definite about the last one yet so I will let you know the full details once I get the confirmation.

Congratulations.

Question: the 2nd place picture. Wasn't there a thread with that picture or one that looked identical about 6 months ago talking about how to make the sun rays. Telling us that the light was actually coming from behind but they used dodge and burn to create?
Just a thought, I know I remember a thread with that picture or very similar!!!

Yes...you all know where I started... a picture of a rose with my point-and-shoot for my first challenge...some fluke shots here and there... over-softened faces of my models... I learned along the way mainly because of the comments that I received from you all.

I went back to your profile to search for that flower shot and other shots you mentioned!! I did this to make myself feel good, here is a man whose work I, and a lot of people I know admire and this is how he started .. In this great company of people at dpc I can hope to be there as well some day!!

Congrats on the amazing achievements and good luck for the next round !!

Thanks DrAchoo, yes that is the one. Very similar when I was remembering it from memory. But I do see it's different. Good shot though.

Congrats!!! That is one excellent shot. Did you enter any others? I would think "Stories of her Life" would have done well in the powerful portraits category.

Last year, I got a 'Highly Commended' for 'Beautiful' in the 'Magic Moments' category at dcmag. Never got around to entering anything this year!!!

that's great, manny...congrats! i have 3 pics entered in the B&W gallery at DCMag (POTY portfolio--B&W ). i saw your photos there, too...they're beautiful, as always!
