Okies, just found this site last night, and I have to say its one of the bests finds i've had since DPchallenge website lol :P just thought i had to share it with you guys as its awesome to have playing in the background whilst editing photos (or at least comp crashing trying to edit photos :P)
//www.pandora.com
Basically you don't have to download anything, its free, and afaik its not illegal. Basically you type in the name of a song, and it plays back musically similar songs. so not just similar artist etc, but similar musically. The songs are excellent quality as well. It's been spot on so far, and i've found heaps and heaps of new music i've never even heard of, which is all really great.
Give it a try and see what you guys reckon, similar results?
PS, no i don't own shares in the company :P |

Ok, first song recommendation was a winner! Thanks for the nod in this direction...I sense many $ spent for new downloads. :)
Edited to add: first FIVE songs were winners - now wondering how I ever lived without this site. I think I have to quit listening while I still have some pennies in my piggybank.

My friend told me about this, but I just sorta shrugged it off. I figured if this is the second time hearing about it, I better check it out. So far, this thing is soooo good.

Well, there I was listening to some music on this site. Then I read the some of the FAQ ... "We can only offer services to residents of the USA" "We don't offer services to other countries." Oh dear, have I done sumpin' wrong? |

I really like this... I suggested "cake" (one of my favorite bands) and the next artist was the Spin Doctors. Not sure about the connection there, but its still pretty cool.

If you do like club/dance/trance... and would like to hear quality music... you should also try www.m1live.com, and if you bump to Richie (From UK), tell him I sent you...
You will NOT be sorry to visit.

Wow, this is really cool! I happen to love New Age music. But I can never find a radio station that plays the songs I like. And except for the few artists that I know I want to listen to, I have no idea what else is out there. With just a couple of "sample songs" given to Pandora, it immediately homed in on some *really* awesome music for me.
THANKS!!!!

i heard about this on cbc a few days ago, but had no idea what they were talking about.
i just typed in ravel, hoping for some classical, but no go. so i did bach, and came up with a non-classical result, but played it,and it's great. now, if i could just figure out how to pipe it the rest of the house while i do housework...

There definately was in the past, but they've recently revamped the site and I haven't been able to find the browser version. The program is only really tiny though, and its free of spyware and stuff according to my scans. It would also install a winamp plugin if you wanted it to, which would track what music you listen to in there. It appeals to me because I'm a bit of a stats feind :P

btw, for people that use last.fm, If you also use pandora, try the following link:
//pandorafm.real-ity.com/
Basically it logs whatever is playing in pandora into your last.fm account, so that way your last.fm account stays up to date
i think they haven't gotten around to classical yet on pandora, so thats a bit dissapointing
I've only just signed up to last.fm, is it any good in terms of reccomendations? or is it mostly just for obssessive stats people (me too :P) |
