OMG, this is soooo slow.
08/25/2006 11:43:48 PM · #52
zip zip zip zip of the mp3 file...

I am listening right now... It is pretty good. I am learning what to do to cheat :P

Ok, the file looks like it is up. focuspoint provided a link to the zip file, I've updated the thread starter for this thread with that link as well, and it looks like I'm successfully uploading the completed file to the website I intended it to go to originally and it should be available soon as well...still looking for feedback now!
08/25/2006 11:44:22 PM · #54
well, 43 Mb and, I think better than nothing...
08/25/2006 11:45:29 PM · #55
focuspoint...you're on fire! Don't let anyone give you garbage for slow file transfer. Keep in mind, you're an emergency backup...I'm still working on the site and will let people know when the site has the complete file.
08/25/2006 11:52:38 PM · #56
I only guess many people trying to download the file right now. If you guys drop off, try again later... I only hope the server won't crash... we all in the dark if it does :P
08/26/2006 12:14:47 AM · #57
Well, I hate to ask...but has ANYONE made it through the whole podcast?
08/26/2006 12:18:17 AM · #58
*puts his teeth back into his mouth... gets up slowly... gets his walker*

Yeah... what's with the age thing going on... Who you calling dinosaur?

cough.. coughph... *drops his teeth to floor...*

hfmfph... hmfph...

:P

I tried downloading the mp3 file from the site, but it stopped at 8mb, and it was incomplete. I have a server with plenty of bandwidth you could host the zip file on... I'm trying to wget it from focuspoint's server, but it's only transferring at 8kb/s... if anyone has the whole file and can upload it, I can get you an ftp to upload it to.

By now everyone is probably giving up but the file is FINALLY available at

www.dpcpodcast.com

The last 20 seconds are so are cut off but that's not bad considering a 41 MB file. This file gives you all of the major content and basically all you're missing is the goodbye and the closing music. Soon I hope to have that fixed too....
08/26/2006 01:17:47 AM · #61
My word! Can I not go out for ONE night and not have things fall apart??

:)

OK, so it was my fault all this. I forgot to change a setting on the account and our disk space was limited WAAAAYYY too low. That's fixed now.

I'm awfully sorry for the delays but as we go forward we'll get all the little buggies worked out and everyone will be cheerfully happy.

I'm listening now at dpcpodcast.com and all is great! Nice job this time Lee. It sounds great and is even MORE entertaining!

For anyone interested. You can get the "Unofficial" DPC Podcast on ITunes by subscribing to it manually.

Go to "Advanced | Subscribe to Podcast" and enter the following in the URL box:
//www.dpcpodcast.com/podcasts/DPChallenge-TheUnofficialPodcast.xml

This'll get you subscribed to us nicely. We're working on being added to ITunes officially but it takes a bit of fiddling and time for them to approve. But that shouldn't hold you back!

Woohoooo...finally listening to Konadors voice! 'Bout time!

I posted in another thread but this one might have more response. I got an error when I tried to download this via iTunes.

Any ideas?

Judi, how'd you get a copy of it?

I went and pulled a copy of the XML file and it looks like the two item nodes have almost identical entries except different title and descriptions; the guid nodes and url attributes of the enclosure nodes are identical.

Thanks for the help. Oh yeah, thanks for doing this work, too.

Hi Kevin. I downloaded it ready to onto my site as backup. Now I listened to that completely no worries. I also downloaded it from this thread as the winzip version....I just tried it and it works no worries.

dpcpodcast

It was a good episode. I liked the sound quality, and the jokes. I didn't like the age thing... puts me in "dinosaur" category... but at least I don't feel too bad, I am not the only one :P

And what's with the Iceland crap... You piss us off, we NJ people will pollute more and there won't be no Iceland... but dry-land.

Ok, I realized that US has to do better... COM'N people.. we want more Blue-Red-Yellow RIBBONs from Red-White-Blue :P

You MUST listen this, it is so fun, I listen few times...

wait, the sound was off!!! that explains... never mind :D

Thanks for the positive feedback from those taking the time to listen to this marathon podast. I'm surprised no one is saying it was too long or asking us not to cover the ribbons so in depth.

What do you think of the host/co-host thing? Do you think we make a good mix for the podcast? If you listened to episode 2 with a different female co-host, did you like that one better? Would it be better with another male co-host?

How about the adult humor? Tame enough? Too much? Did it distract or enhance your listening?

How about the interview? Do you wish there was less banter between myself and the cohost and more interview or vice versa? Or, was it just about right?

The URL is; //www.dpcpodcast.com/podcasts//DPC-8-27-06.mp3 (note the extra '/' in there) - Not sure if iTunes is looking in the wrong place for it.

jhonan, I don't think the itunes connection is working yet. Sea2c is working on that issue right now for us and should have it set up soon. You SHOULD be able to go directly to the site and play the mp3 file right now from:

www.dpcpodast.com

and soon...very soon...the rss feed should be working and registered with itunes.

I thought it was good.

Yes, It seemed as if you two were comfortable talking to each other.

I listened to PC2 but honestly can't remember.
Originally posted by lkn4truth:

Female or Male, it really don't matter. Just be comfortable with each other.

I thought it was tame enough but got a bit cheesy.

The interview was good.

The only thing that I found distracting between you and the co-host was you not knowing enough about the ribbon winners prior to the podcast. I think it would be good to have caught up on their background first instead of acting surprised at the amount of ribbons they have. Example was scalvert in the pea's challenge. Most people know he is part of the SC and has a lot of ribbons. As a host I feel you should have researched your subjects before announcing the winners.

With that said, not bad, I enjoyed the podcast and felt you and your co-host did a good job. I think you were taking everyones opinions in mind when you were going for your humor and kept it tame. As a host I think each podcast you do you are getting better.

*Boooohooooo... SOB... BOO HOOOOO...*

Great stuff....enjoyed it thoroughly...I do agree with Scott that a bit of research might be prudent but I did like the impromptu nature of the discussion and might not want to ruin it...so maybe if one did reseach? Otherwise very fine. Can't wait to hear more. Are the others that you have done going to be on the site?

I appreciate the input on doing research about the photographers first. There is a fine line here I'm trying to walk. If you do too much research then it can turn the spenteneity off and everything becomes a dry rehashing of statistics. On the other hand, I can imagine that long time members who are very familiar with a photographer would consider my comments as uneducated which would turn them off since they probably want to get more from the website and ideally would probably like a host of the podcast that knew more than they did and can reveal something new to them. I suppose the ideal host would be someone like the site owners who know behind the scene stuff that we wouldn't know about unless they told us. I'm going to give this more thought and see if I can do more research ahead of time without reducing the impromptu banter that is important for entertainment sake.
