i don't think a card i used was formatted properly (my own fault, forgot the memory card duh! and had to borrow) and now my card reader can't seem to recognize it but the pix play back fine on my cam.
any tricks to getting it to read? there's a few shots on there i'd like to save.

| You could maybe try to use data recovery software. |

I would get a new one. Even if you eventually get it working, using a bad CF is dangerous. They're cheap, and for me losing a lot of nice photos would be worse than spending a bit on a new card. |

Get another one -- and look into sending the bad one back to the manufacturer if returning it to the store isn't an option. Most cards come with a warrantee against manufacturer's defects.

Borrow a cable? :D
Most cameras use a mini-usb cable, which can be picked up anywhere fairly cheap.
However, if the camera can read the card, it's likely formatted properly. Can the card reader read other cards? If the card reader is a part of some other device (mines in my printer) check to see if the device drivers are needed to make it work.

With the card in a card reader, try loading a photo to it from your pc without doing any formatting. This has worked for me. All pics on the card were saved. Seemed to have reset the card someway. Good Luck.
I have found less problems when the camera is used to format a card.

| My x-drive can't read my new cards for my g6. I think it has something to do with the os. The x-drive is fat32 and it does read my older cards. It will not format my new cards either. So maybe try hooking up the card reader to an older computer. |
