Wow, these get togethers sure give you lots of ways to spend your money! :-) |
RIGHT! After the May gtg...I ran out and bought a 70-300mm lens thanks to Shailesh. He had one that made taking candids of folks a snap, and I got envious. |
I think sometime it would be really fun to focus on candids at a GTG....especially because they seem to be the hardest kind of shot for me! |

John, Where at Navy Pier did you watch the fireworks? We were at a BBQ place near the front of Navy Pier when the fireworks went off.
Anyway, You guys are all sharing your photographer quality pics, so I'll share my 'photo album snapshot' pics. haha And I'll even do it story style...
I think this little spot was between the Shedd Aquarium and the Planetaruim. Pretty little place to take some pics.
While we were walking around, there were some fun things to see.
Then we went to the Skydeck and while we were getting our group photo taken
,
we all took pics of the guy taking pics of us. This is him, I didn't get his name. (hey, I thought it was amusing)
Finally, after about an hour wait, we made it to the top.
(here's Dave and Elizabeth taking their professional looking pics)
After that, we went to Potbelly's to eat. Nice sandwiches, good prices.
But I think there may have been crack in the sandwiches at Potbelly's cause everyone started acting a little weird.
Elizabeth was chasing birds.
Shane was pole dancing.
I turned into 00Wacker
All the while Dave was wondering wtf had gotten into us all.
We split up after Navy Pier and were hoping to meet back up on the Museum side, but our trolley had issues and we had to transfer and the delays got us back to the museum shortly before closing, but we did get to go in for a bit and see the dinosaur exhibit.
No sleep since Thursday, (and the crack in the sandwiches at Potbelly's) took over and we managed to cause some trouble before leaving Chicago. Do not attempt this at your local museum, I'm pretty sure if you get caught, you'll get thrown out. hahaha
All in all, it was a wonderful day, that left me tired, but very happy.

I didn't watch them from the Pier... I watched them from Grant Park down by the Buckingham Fountain. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to catch my train back up to Northbrook on time if I stayed on the pier for the fireworks. I needed to catch a bus from somewhere back to my train station and I figured doing that at Navy Pier would be a challenge after the fireworks...

Come on JP...the sea-men in the white uniforms, and the cute little hats...they were all over the place. Heather was facinated because every where she looked there was sea-men!

Oh my goodness, it's true!! Heather's fascination with sea-men knows no bounds!!!! We were all highly entertained all day long :-) Especially when a female Naval officer walked by and someone pronounced her as a "she-man." Now everytime I see a sea-man, I will think of Heather. |

It's a good thing you don't live IN chicago then, cause man, there was seamen all over that town. Everywhere we walked, seamen. Seamen on the streets, seamen on the sidewalks, seamen on the bridges. The entire town was covered with seamen. You even got a pic of seamen on the trolley.
My favorite seamen encounter was when we were in line for the sears tower and we saw seamen trying to enter the 'exit only'. Woah. That was too much.

YEP! LMAO! Just think, Maya lives there. She's always knee deep in seamen.
