Dadas, etc.

i think you guys are way too serious about this thing :) You're taking the scores so personally it's sort of comical -- no, not laughing at you because I was once like that :)

The ratings are just ratings -- if you get a 7, are you necessarily better than someone who got a 4? Maybe yes, maybe not. It's all subjective. Certainly if you're going for the commercial stuff, then you may have to care as this is what the average folks with cameras think (though the average person without a camera is more important as they constitute more of the general population) and thus, would buy or spend money on. But if you're going to be a 'pro' photgrapher, this is also the wrong forum as most pros get paid doing weddings, portraits and shooting photos of people's children and pets (huge amount of money in that market, btw), or they do glamour photography (another big market thanks to the internet), etc.

Tony, you couldn't have missed the point any further than you have. I actually do make money from photography but I would never never want to be a pro photographer as that would just suck the fun right out of it. I would also never dream of shooting a wedding, I hate those things worse than the plague. There are plenty of ways to make money from photography other than weddings and there is a certain satisfaction that comes from winning a competition. Besides, I have seen you get WAY serious about silly equipment arguments LOL. We all have things that we like to succeed at. There is no point in telling us how silly we are because we want to perform well in this competition or that we are silly for being disappointed when our work isnât met with the satisfaction that we think it should have. To quote A. Einstein, âI have found great success in my failure.â

Yeah i am guilty of the equipment argument :) but i haven't griped about challenges for quite a while :)

But if you're not doing this commercially then you wouldn't worry about what others think of your photography.... that's the point i am making. You'd either have to compromise what you like to do and produce something that people on DPc would like to see (and they're not necessarily the same), or produce something that you like and don't care for the results.

And if you think this is a failure that you didn't win and you have found great success in it, you wouldn't gripe about it :)
