Recommendation/opinions requested:

Go to Nikon directly or one of the Authorized Repair Stations?

when you gotta go ... I will say that charmin is much softer. :O
--

My big concern is speedocity - I'd rather have my camera than not (huh!).

I called Nikon but they're not open today >:(

So, instead of fretting all day I'd thought I'd ask.

Feel free to berate me for getting doody on the sensor, I deserve it.

And - sorry Llama teammates, I'll see what I can whip out with the beebee canon.

Washer, huh? You've not steered me wrong, I'll toss it on 'Delicate' cycle.

You really got doody on your sensor? Does Copper hill make TP?

Bummer Brother ... I say the fastest route but that's cuz I can't live more than 2 days without my picture maker.

Good Luck JP

Doody, in this case, is gunk. Probably oil or grease from a part of the mechanical innards.

I was at the (extremely dusty) fair yesterday. Shots were okey dokey dust wise, almost none. I hardly E V E R clean the sensor unless the dust is bad but thought since it was in ultra dusty land I may as well give it a swipe. So I gave it a sensosweep swipe.

Then the mistake - I followed a wee lil hair that wasn't on the senor but on another innard and swept it away. Then I went back to the sensor. Smudge. Panictryagain - thatwasdumb.

Find copperhill cleano stuff - frickin eclipse juice is empty :o
Panicdryswab STOP STOP STOP don't do it. Aaaarrrrggghhh.

JP, do you live anywhere close to a Nikon Service Centre? I believe if you take it there yourself, they are able to clean it on the spot. Otherwise it'll probably take a couple weeks.

Nope, nowhere near ... well, anything ... let alone a service center. :/

I'm thinking I scratched the sensor, I'm hoping I didn't.

I'll rustle up the lil canon and take a shot of the sensor, and I'll take a shot with Ms D70 as well to see the effects.

I'm preparing myself for the "We must replace the sensor" notification.

The blows twice as much seeing as the 70-200/2.8 is due to arrive wednesday. :(

perhaps I should put a stop on that order and pony it towards the D200.

I'm thinking of overnighting it to the ASC downstate, or Marquette Camera Repair in mkland ... errrr, MN.

Doody photos will be posted after dinner - plan accordingly.

And no, I wasn't making a german scheisse video.

I scratched mine good while cleaning with copperhill a few days ago. I posted some shots. Here is one. You can see the scratch at the top. However, I since took 50 new shots and scratch doesn't seem to appear....but it is still there because I took some more of blank sky and you can see it! It is scratched but doesn't seem to be leaving it's mark on my shots!

I didn't take any with the D70, but here's one of the sensor.

The big glob is what I'm concerned about. And the cool line going across the sensor. :(

I don't think I'll be able to enter and basic editing challenges as is.

Thanks for the numbers Robert, they'll be my first calls tomorrow.

Looks scratched up. Did you take any shots with it to see how they come out?

So I go take some shots of the sky, this is what we get.

Those aren't ufo's. Nor birds.

If you look closely you can see a weeping jp, I could sell this photo on e-bay.

Hmmmmmm ... from this afternoon:

You make the call ... either way, Ms D70 is going on a trip.

Anyone want to buy a boat? It's for sale :)

And yes, I drive a Buick. It instantly eliminated any woman under 40 from wanting to date me :(

Doesn't look like my scratch...did you try to clean?
