So...I've never done anything like this before, but I'm thinking of submitting 1 or 2 of my photos for consideration in a juried art show that's coming up in a couple of weeks. The show will include many types of art, not just photography, and chosen pieces will be displayed in storefront windows in the town center during the annual "Artwalk". I'm kind of nervous about doing this because I just took up photography about one year ago, and although I've learned a lot in that time, I'm not sure that any of my images would constitute "art". I decided to just go for it though because it will be a good experience to at least go through the submission process, and who knows - maybe good things will happen. I think that my strongest images are portraits, and I'm leaning toward this b&w of my son as one entry-

I'd love to get some feedback on this and some help in choosing one more photo to submit. It would also be great to hear about experiences that other people have had in submitting photos for juried shows. Thanks so much!

I'm hoping to start framing some photos tomorrow, so any suggestions would really be appreciated. :)

pfew... I always find it hard to judge what's art and what's not...

I agree your strongest images are your portraits, you've got some nice stuff in your portfolio.

I like the one you've chosen (comfort) and indeed this is a strong image. Art? I really don't know.

Maybe you could consider these?

And if you do this one in b/w and some USM, it would be perfect I think, and it would fit great with the other photo.

Good luck with the choices, hope to hear from you wich one you picked and how the art show went :)

I like

But I don't know how it would do in an art show.

Thanks for the input Hanneke and Pat. I appreciate it. I'd still love to hear suggestions from others as well.
