Open your folder or hard drive that contains all of your photos; select all ( ctrl+a ); right click a picture and choose properties.
Whats your final figure?
Mine comes up with 84,674 files and uses 83.4 gigs.
I know that several hundred files are copies of the same photos and several hundred are non-photo files, but still, that's a lot of photos.
I'm sure you can do worse (or better)?

Haha, It´s obvious you don´t shoot raw :)
I don´t have a figure on either accounts as my shots are spread over 4 hard disks, some of them up on a shelf somewhere but I am sure I don´t match your first number, I have shot about 110.000 shots the last 3 years and probably thrown away about half of them but the later number must be somewhere around 500-750 gigs, I save a lot of processed tiff files and do all my shooting in raw. |

I'm not at my computer, but I'll throw out a guess.
My 100GB external HD is about 40% filled
In the past year, I've taken 10k+ shots with my Rebel (it just rolled over to 0001 again this past week)
Plus images from my P&S
And I don't do RAW.

23,378 on computer
46,203 on external hard drive
and a few thousand more on CDs
I'd say I'm pushing 100k shots stored.

How many of these are backed up?
I have about 10k, not sure of space since I'm at work. Most are backed up on different HD in different computer, but I haven't done it for a month or so. Need to do that this weekend.

Actually, I'd say about 80% of mine are backed up.
I kept putting it off and putting it off, but finally went ahead and got another external drive, copied everything to it and it's sitting in my office at work.
I guess I need to update it with the 20% that aren't on there.

I bought my Canon in September of 2005.
3,851 files in 104 folders (all JPEG)
10.4 GB all backed up on about 20 CD's
...and adding more everyday! |

I have a 250gb hard drive which is almost filled up with images and then a ton of DVD backups that also not counting whats on my 2 computer's. I have to have around or near a 80,000 - 100,000 files. That much cause I take alot of raw pictures now, So I keep the orignal raw file plus save tiff files and jpegs.
