I think you overestimate the problem of illegal immigration and its impact on jobs/wages. And American citizens aren't taking "those jobs" because they don't provide the standard of living to which they're instructed to aspire ... I'm pretty sure that the exporting of jobs/factories and the avoidance of corporate taxes (by incorporating in the Bahamas, for example) have a far more significant on the Federal deficit and the overall tax burden you and I face.

However, I don't really have time for a statistical shootout right now...if you can find some numbers to support your position I don't know if I'll have time for research myself -- still looking for some decent plants myself!

YEAH! And we can change that slogan on that statue in NY harbor to "Give me your affluent white middle-class males, yearning to be free!" After all, this country was founded on the belief that only white English people have rights and everyone else is non-human. Those foreigners should all go back to where they came from. Especially those "Native American" types... I mean, most of them don't even have jobs!!!

Correction : Where I said "white English people" it should read "white English males". Sorry for any confusion this may have caused :)

That's exactly the type of population control i have in mind. You want more than say two kids? Fine, but you will pay for it yourself. Would like to see the same in the US: no tax exemptions, childcare credits for more than two kids, etc. Needless to say, that approach won't do any good for out of control countries such as India and pretty much all of Africa.

This is ridiculous. You penalise the children for their parents' mistakes, and condemn them to a life of poverty and instability. What kind of future will they have? Poverty is a cycle, they'll just hand it down to THEIR kids.

History has shown that the way to population control is through educating women and giving them the ability to live independently of a husband. If they can't support themselves, they have to marry to get security, and in return provide their husband's family with children. This is the equation that governs people's lives all over the world. You break the cycle by getting little girls into schools and then into jobs as women. They get to choose whether or not they want to marry, and whether or not to have children after that. This is what has driven down birthrates throughout the western world.

Well said and 100% on target... One small nitpick. Males should also be entitled to education and opportunities. Little boys need to be educated and to have opportunities for careers as well.

Another statement without facts.

More than 50% of federal tax revenue is INCOME tax, not corporate taxes. If you want to say individuals escaping to Bahamas to avoid taxes, that's one thing, but odn't say corporations that went to Bahamas to escape taxes. Believe me, no one in the US high tech world would ever do business with a company that is based on some offshore island. You have no clue what you're talking about.

Perhaps this is WHY so high a percentage of tax revenue is collected from INCOME taxes...

From a report on corporate responsibility by Senator Carl Levin of Michigan:

Finally, over the past several years we have been hearing more and more about corporations using offshore (foreign) tax havens to avoid paying their fair share of U.S. taxes. Most egregious is the recently discovered practice of "inversion" -- that is, reincorporating a U.S. company in a no or low tax jurisdiction offshore, but keeping management and production facilities in the U.S. to significantly reduce U.S. taxes.

You can read the text (with links to evidentiary documents) here.

dancing around the heart of the matter again ey? You see as the son of an immigrant, I have NO problem with immigration, no matter what race or color you are... immigration helped build this nation... my problem is that it needs to be done legally... we are a nation with laws, and the illegal immigrants are criminals... someone wants to immigrate? fine no problem.. but do it legally like my family did... many of the the illegals come here with no intention of adopting our culture or learning our language and becoming americans... they simply want to use OUR system to support their familes back home south of the border... one of my best friends is hispanic and he completely agrees with me.. this is not a racial issue, but an issue of law.. a law the illegals (no matter what country they come from or race that they are) are breaking

General, many of those illegals are taking jobs that have been done for years and years by citizens... as an example take a look at the construction industry... the trades are greatly affected by it... painting, carpentry, tape and bedding, concrete, roofers, etc... since the beginning of this country americans of all races and colors did this work.. now it is completely dominated by illegal immigrants from mexico... because the labor is so cheap, companies hire one legal foreman and pay him enough to pay his crew and then he pays his crew in cash... it is common practice.. I have seen it in action myself...
