I'm still new and nervous of being disqualified from a challenge so .. is this all legal under Basic? I'll leave out the actual values.

It should be as long as there were no selections. If you are really unsure then you can go to the contact page and submit a ticket and ask for verification...but keep in mind...that isn't always the final answer, more a guidance.

None of those steps are even remotely illegal as long as they were applied directly to the entire image, or in "adjustment layers" that cover the entire image (no selections made by you).

Just as an aside, if those steps are listed in the order you applied them, I'm at a loss as to why you'd be setting the gray point in curves AFTER you did your hue/sat work... Normally that would be one of your first steps in PP.

It's just how I did it. I couldn't duplicate what I had done originally any other way. I wish I could show everyone right now!

Alright... We'll let you off the hook this time... just don't get into any bad habits, hear? The thing of it is, when you set the gray point in curves that shifts all your colors to some extent, so it generally makes more sense to set the gray (or white, or black) point before doing any color shifting. But hey, if the end result is a thing of beauty, it's all good :-)

Just wondering, but is using blending options legal in basic editing?

EG in blending options, you can make the layer blend only if image below is certain shades, or is that considered selective?
