A few question if you don't mind. Sorry if they have been asked before.
1. Did he withdraw a large sum of money out of his banking account(s) prior to the disappearance?
2. Does he have credit cards? If so has any activity been seen on them since his disappearance?
3. Does his banking accounts show any ATM withdrawals? If so where and can the police get the picture to see if it was him or if he was alone?
4. I read he has heart trouble. Does he take medication for the condition. If so did he take it with him? or has it been refilled since his disappearance?
5. Does his car have a tracking device like OnStar?
6. Does he carry a GPS device? It can be backtracked.
7. Has any pawn shops in the are been check for anyone pawning camera equipment?
8. Could someone give us the exact coordinates of his house and last sighting so we can put it in google map. It may show some hints.

My thoughts are with Steve's family at this time.
I had a similar experiance earlier this year, my uncle went walking on Snowdon in Wales, a missing persons report was filed on the 2nd Jan 2006, the local mountain rescue, police and fire brigade spent 2 weeks looking for him with no sign.
6 months later thy found his body at the bottom of a 300 ft cliff, yes the worst had happened, his funeral will be sometime over the next few weeks once the police have done their work.
I know how Steves family must be feeling at this time and I really hope that they find him well very soon. |

Got up at 3am and drove the area he was last spotted with Orion, Iva and Tina. No luck.
To clarify:
I had heard the missing persons report went offical on Thursday, but in reality, it went to missing persons late Friday and was not official until Monday 7/31. Once the report was offical they found out his car was called in on the 30th. Thus the officer had no idea Steve was missing when he spotted the car. After the fact, talking to the officer, it was confirmed that the description matched Steve.
And to be perfectly clear: there is no evidence or even a remote thought that foul play is involved. The Green SUV was most likely a friend and we are working on clarifying who it was. It was a sighting from a neighbor, so we can't be 100% it was even correct.
Last time I said let's hope it's a good day, we had the car sighting. So let's hope today is a good day too!

Here's a stupid question, but I don't see anything about it here:
Where does Steve work? Did they expect him in and he didn't show?
The reason I ask is that might show "planned" versus "unplanned" absence.

I apologise to all Steve's close friends and relatives if some of our questions are sensitive. We are all desperate to help in anyway we can..the questions just might spark some idea or clue;)
I have a question - Have you contacted Steve's doctor? Did he visit with him recently...if you explain the situation he might help..Steve may have said something to him/her that might help?

I just read through all 25 pages. I was just watching on tv a few weeks ago how photographers can get so into a shot that they can loose track of their surroundings and get lost, fall, etc...and now this. :( I hope he's OK.
Tina, you did a great job with the news interview. I wish I was out there to help. |

This is his sister Candy in Oregon - I have just read the most recent updates on this thread - there was a set of questions asked by loudDog regarding Steve's disappearance. The only comment I have on the question about hocking his camera and accessories - "I think that Steve would cut off his right arm to sell (just a figure of speech) before he would think about hocking his camera equipment.
Our local newspaper called me this morning and may be doing something local as he knew so many people in Oregon. They were going to contact the Mesa PD and their sister station? in Mesa. I suspect I will hear from them later.
again, the whole family appreciates all the time and efforts his friends in Arizona have done in hopes of finding him
Bless all of you |

I think Daryl wasn't referring to Steve hocking the camera gear, rather someone else may have hocked it.

Not to frighten you, but I don't think he was suggesting that Steve would hock his equipment. When someone has been missing for so long, some people, like myself, would begin to think foul play was involved.
Has anyone called his banks to let them know the situation? I don't think you would want to cut off funds in case Steve needed them, but is there some way the accounts can have a flag added to have the account holder call the bank or company to verify information? Then if he calls in, the bank or company could get his location and tell him to call home. |

Question... Did the police try to run the make/model/plates of the green SUV or try to track it down?

ANother thing. Since people are allowed to stay at his place, does anyone know what suitcase he would use and is it in the house? Is his toothpaste and other personal products still there? |

Actually maybe it wouldnt be a bad idea to cancel out his credit cards etc , If he is out there and using his credit cards no better way to get him to make contact with the bank. At least then you would know he is out there and could track him down.

Sorry if I'm asking a question that has been asked already but....I'm sure the police have thought about this but.. has anybody checked the hospitals for any John Does. I ask because I used to work security for the hospital here in Burlington, Vt. and we had many John and Jane Does. I know its morbid to think this but might be worth checking into. I would also suggest not only checking local hospitals abut those for about a 100 mile radius. Sounds like a lot but one never knows.

I was thinking this also. Once the missing person report is filed the police have a list of things they automatically do, one of them is to contact all the hospitals.

The fact that someone matching Steve's description was sleeping in his car in an area he likes to shoot, on a night there was stuff to shoot just a few days ago is comforting.
Again, we highly doubt any foul play and the green SUV is assumed to be a friend, but being looked into.
