Cool deal on the home page announcement, but needs a photo.

Just a light-hearted bump. I'm saying some prayers for him.

Steve and I considered ourselves "Ribbon Buddies".. due to the fact that we each had the hat-trick of ribbons.. (blue, red, yellow), and admired each others' work.

I'm definitely hoping he turns up.. somewhere. Soon.

It wouldn't be the same without another hat-trick guy like stdavidson on this site to see which one ruined that perfect set of ribbons on our profiles by getting another one.

I'm going to bed but if anyone wants to come along tomorrow with me just send me a PM. I'd be glad to have the company... :0)

...I say I'm going to sleeep but give me another half hour or so :0P

(& thanks D &/or L)

I just don't understand why the police did not make contact with the man (they think was or is Steve) sleeping in his car in the mountains. From what I understand they saw the car and a man appearing to meet Steve's description was sleeping in the back seat. I think something this serious would of warranted a wakeup call.

My understanding just from following this thread is that he wasn't reported missing until after that.

Those particular officers were not aware of a missing person report;) It's a place where people often sleep off a long drive apparently.

That's what I find odd. They say he matched, but they were not looking for him at the time. So it was after the fact. Plus it was dark, how could they tell? If they shone a torch at the driver surely he would have woken up?

I imagine it's like this (pure speculation):
Police discover the parked car, look inside and see someone sleeping, not uncommon, but fill out a brief report with a general description of the car and the occupant. Next day (or whenever), missing person report comes out and they look back at the report from the other night and notice the description matches.

Again, speculation, but seems likely that's what occurred.

Police have returned to the spot where they seen the vehicle and it is now gone. He has not returned home. So we are still looking for him. This is his sister and niece in oregon.

Yes, but from what I understood, the missing persons report was with a different police force...so yes, after, but before these particular police go the report?:))

Earlier, securitymonster (a relative) had this to say:

"There is a couple issues here. It seems that the area is a very popular location for people to "get away" and take naps. So this is very common to see somebody sleeping in their car. ???

The other issue is that the missing persons report that we thought was issued wasn't, so when the police ran the plates, everything was ok. It wasn't until yesterday that the missing persons report was actually filed and then triggered a flag on the vehicle being spotted on Sunday."

Ok..sorry, it's been a long few days;)

So if he was there and hasn't returned wouldn't it stand to reason he's still somewhere out in that same area? Is there currently a search being conducted in that area by the police/park rangers?

The story has made it to Google News so any chance you get to have coverage with the media do it. Because google is picking it up.

no formal search that I'm aware of. When I went out today the park rangers were very helpful and knew all about Steve. It's an odd area tho- residential against national forest

Has anyone checked around and tried to find out who the green suv belonged to? Whoever that belongs to is the last person to talk with Steve. They might have some insight. Maybe someone that he played billards with would know who it is.
We have a police log in our local paper. Has a suv been stolen in the last month or so?

i think its weird that they were so close to him to notice that he was breathing, but yet the guy didnt wake up. when i see someone sleeping i have to stare to see if they are breathing and usually people wake up when they are stared at or even from the presence of someone near them. Just sucks they didnt get the report a little sooner.

Great! Nancy Grace and other national news shows focus on missing persons these days. May be another option.

I've read the whole thread and seen all the news videos. Don't really know what to say, but I do hope everything will turn out well and he'll get found.
