Ok...so I saw this thread and the name didn't trigger anything in my head. Now I have read the whole thread and I must say, even not knowing him, I am worried. I sincerely hope this has a positive outcome and he returns home well and in good spirits and thankful that we all are/were worried about him. He and his family are now in my prayers.

I think I missed that point too in my earlier post. I thought that the authorities had been made aware of Steve's missing status, and presumably his tag number, prior to the time when the officer spotted his car with someone sleeping in it. Apparently that was not the case, and I was wrong about the timing. My bad.

I think, from what I can tell, they were notified prior but getting the "paperwork" submitted and processed (entered into the computer, etc.) held back the time the actual alert went out on the wire.

He's a good, chatty, seemingly happy man - so perhaps he may be here getting away from it all:
Hope so, and that he'll be back to the cacti soon enough. |

I'm Steve's SIL (and an extremely amature photographer--I don't know anything about my two cameras!), it's nice to see that people are concerned. His oldest son is on the 'case.'
Thanks. |

A spot or 2 on the radio stations locally-what an excellent idea-thank you. Does anyone in the area have any contacts to station(s)? If you do please get the info off the following site:

Please post who, what and where if you are contacting any station. Thanks in advance!

I will begin working on radio stations - these past few days I've been focusing on TV, but I like the idea of radio and it will become my new priority!
I will update when I've had some success. |

Tina, you're doing a great job.
Another thought I had earlier was to get in touch with motels/hotels maybe in the area he was supposedly seen. Yes, he was in his car napping but maybe he's staying at a hotel some nights.
Really trying to brainstorm here. Running out of suggestions. Here's a stretch...
Would he have a laptop with him? Would that IP be reissued if he's traveling out of area? I'm not sure how it all works, exactly. Could the IP be tracked?

That's great.
Am I the only one who is having trouble getting a couple of the pictures to load? |

Hotels are another good idea and we can certainly add them to our list of places to drop flyers at! Thanks for the suggestion!
I have been in contact with a wonderful lady at the Arizona State Parks - she has been immensely helpful in getting the media in touch with me. She is going to start working on radio stations as well and they should start calling me soon! I cannot thank her enough for using her media relationships to help us get this story broadcasted.
I will continue to keep posting when I have anything new.

FWIW, in Canada when we drive long distances on the highway, the recommendation is that if we feel sleepy on the roads to pull off the road, put on the flashers and take a nap. There are specific rest areas periodically on the long highways and it would not be considered bad or inappropriate to be sleeping there.
This is different from driving in town where people generally speaking do not spend 14 hours straight driving without a place to stay.
For this sort of situation, I can see how a quick look and a check for breathing would be quite standard procedure.
Keep up the good work folks. I'm checking 2-3 times a day hoping for good news. |

I've been reading along, has anyone suggested gas stations? He has to get gas for the car, right? IF the bank and credit cards won't let you see his activity, you can still check the gas stations right?
