This is really bugging me. In various other threads, and at various other times, people have whined and moaned about voters with no cameras.
It is now being suggested that theys houldn't be allowed to vote
This is a silly and unfair idea
You have no idea why the person has listed themselves as no camera
Maybe they are having financial difficulties and have had to sell their camera (This has happened several times in this community)
Maybe they are a film photographer, and have come here to learn about the digital community and see what can be done with the hundreds of digital cameras on the market (or one of several other reasons)
Maybe their camera is broken and have had it sent off and won't have it for a month
Maybe they are someone interested in learning about a digital cameras and just haven't purchased one yet
Saying they shouldn't be allowed to vote just because they don't have a camera is completely unjustified.
People complain about low average votes for people with no cameras. Statistically, there are few people who vote who have no camera. All it takes is one voter without a camera to not like a photo, vote it low, and bring the average down to 3.xxx for votes by people without a camera. It goes the other way, too. I have often seen votes by voters with no camera be at a 8.xxx or 9.xxx as well. How come nobody is bitching about those scores?
Just because someone doesn't have a camera is NOT a reason to not allow them a vote.
What if you are a graphic designer, or in marketing. You see pictures all day long, and look at them with a critical eye. You don't have a camera. You like this site. You maybe even give a few comments here and there. Just because they don't own a digital camera, they don't deserve to cast their vote?
People without cameras have just as much to contribute as someone with a camera.
'Well how can they understand what goes into a picture if they've never taken one?' Might as well close all the museums since so many people who appreciate art have never sculpted or picked up a sketch pad or a paintbrush in their life. Might as well stop recording music since many people have never played an instrument or sang in their life ('cept for karaoke). Photography is an art form that involves two people, the photgrapher and the viewer. The photgraapher requires a camera. The viewer requires eyes. That's it. The viewer does NOT need a camera, and neither do voters
Nevermind the fact that there is no way to enforce this type of rule
Done ranting. Flame away or whatever. Just wanted to get that out
