I've had this lens for about a year. I'm happy with the images but find the built-in hood to be very annoying. It makes it hard to hand-hold a 4x6 filter and if you use the 'ring' (that the cap clips to) you get vignetting and have to crop.

Does this annoy you? What do you do to work with it?

The sigma 12-24 has a drop in filter holder on the back side of the lens (at the rear element).

It's not really a drop-in filter system, rather it's a clip for gelatin filters. The only filter I've ever needed to use is a ND, and I found the little clip to be a PITA to use, but it does work. Aside from that, the lens is great

Yea, I know there's a drop in filter for gels...but that won't work for a GND. I'm heading to CO in the fall and know the 12-24 will get lots of use and imagine the GND will, too...
