Hey Everyone,

Since I posted regarding the 70-200 IS Lens, I have found that there are many different preferences for lenses and equipment for wedding photography.

What is in your bag? What lenses do you prefer?

Thanks to all!

Pretty much any f2.8 70-200mm lens, actually. Or longer. I try to stay as far away as possible to keep things as candid as possible. Most people can't help but act unnatural when they know the camera is on them.

For obvious shots a standard 18-55mm lens or something like that. Though I'd bring both my Stealth Reporter 650 bag and something much smaller. Keep everything in the 650 in case I need it (such as my laptop if I burn through all my cf cards and need to make room).

I tend to use my Tamron 28-75mm for about 95% of shooting weddings! My little 50mm 1.8 comes in handy too!

70-200 2.8 for reportage, some ceremony shots;
16-35 2.8 for formals;
50 1.8 for the evening/night shots;
8mm for shots of the whole venue/guests at table shots.

Flash plus diffuser for sunny days.

I end up with lenses stuffed in pockets all over the place - I could do with some kind of belt or vest type thing!

I've got a pocketiferous vest for field geology. Take a look at a sports store, there are all sorts of vests for fishing & hiking. Not grossly overpriced like most camera gear, either. :-)

Thanks for the suggestions. I found a genuine, second hand war reporter's vest in a local store a while ago but its purchase was vetoed by my wife on the grounds that I would look ridiculous. I need some kind of "city vest", I think.

I shall have to ask my geomorphologist friend about the pocketiferous period, I think.

I'll second the Tamron 28-75. I also use my Canon 10-22 quite a bit, especially for large groups and shots of the entire church. The 50 1.8 is great for low light, and my 70-300 f4-5.6 IS is good for "long distance closeups" (not as fast as the 70-200 2.8 IS, but good enough).

I shoot 80% of my wedding shots with my Canon 50 1.4, 10% with my Canon 100mm and prolly 5% each Lensbaby and Fisheye.

I take the 70-200 along just in case, but it always seems to stay in the bag because I'm usually able to move in close enough when I need to.

Disposables lots of Disposables.

No Just kidding, I was watching one of those daytime court tv shows. This bride was suing her photographer because she photographed her entire wedding with disposable cameras. The bride saud she showed up with a garbage bag full of them. HA. I couldn't even imagine doing that.

My bag is filled with what you see listed on my profile, and it all goes in there, whether shooting a wedding or not.
