Did you have a great shot that you took right before a challenge was announced? Did you just miss a challenge deadline? Did you get a great idea after the voting began?

How about a free study challenge where we can retroactively enter any challenge within the last year; with the added exception of advanced editing for all?

Advanced editing.
Taken any time within the last year.
Title must include name of the challenge you wish it could have been entered into.

Too complicated; or has it been done?

I know you are being rhetorical, but I wanted to say I know I missed one - The Perspectives III Challenge.

Not that I would submit this one - but I like your challenge idea.

For a long while that happened just about every week. My theory was that Langdon picked each challenge topic by scanning my hard drive for the best picture I'd taken in the previous week and using that as the theme ...

Like, for instance, if you spent a week driving along the beaches of Lake Michigan, arrived home on a Monday and the beaches challenge was announced on Tuesday? >:( Hypothetically speaking, of course.

I suppose in a way, this is essentially what the Best Of challenges are, minus the proper titling.

LOL!
I've noticed a strange phenomenon where a new challenge topic seems to pick up from a particular photo in the previous one. It's actually happening right now!

Right, except that I've got one that's breaking my heart because the internet went down for the whole day. It's not my very best; but it's perfect for a specific challenge.

Care to share a thumbnail? Or waiting for this challenge to come around?

I had taken shots for both the black and white and color challenge. didn't care for either so I tried to do a last minute color shot with only 15 minutes left. didn't work out so I am now focused on my next challenge entries with out the distraction of the update button.

Oh, what the heck...I'm sure to have more such photos by the time that ever comes around. Besides, I've since gotten some editing help from (metate) that made it much better than I could have done.

Hey that's me! ...
My best example is the recent "Striaght off the camera challenge" ...
My wife kept telling me they SHOULD have that very challenge (she hates it when I mess around in photoshop for hours) ... I was really sick that weekend and still managed to make it to Niagara Falls. Nifty JPGs I shot with my lumix at the Falls ... NO-ONE has ever taken pictures of the falls ;P

I came home and was too sick to even look at the camera or the computer ... The next day the challenge was being voted on and my sweet images were sitting on my camera ... BOO HOO for me.

No thumnail (sorry) -- I'll add it later.

yeah.. this would be a cool challenge to have every once in a while, maybe 2 to 4 times a year, lol

This one I got with my minolta straight from the camera 2 days after the challenge submission deadline

That's a great looking rear-end of a dragonfly.

Don't the occassional "Best of Year" kind of take care of that, such as this challenge? Maybe they should be a regular annual challenge.

I would have loved to enter either of these for "Beach" (2nd without the PP of course). Just a bit too early.

why, thank you

I think that best of the year challenges are just a free for all where photos are judged just on their own, where as this would be a second chance for a photo to enter a specific challenge (not actually) and each one could be judged as it fits with the challenge that you wanted to put it into

Thanks Amanda,
You've managed to explain it better than I could:)

no problem... : )

As I mentioned before ... I was sick so that's my excuse for having an anticlimactic image (this was uneditted) !!! .. but this is what I came up with that would have fit into the "straight off the camera" ... Given, it''s probably a 5.1 ... but I like this sort of serendipitous image.
