I entered, for the first time, some photos in our local county fair. I didn't do too bad.
 Won the blue in "Color: Animal and Bird" catagory
 Second place "Color: Picturesque"
 Second place "Color: Other"
 Third place "BW: Picturesque"
I am a little confused, however. I entered this one
Under the "BW: Portrait" catagory. It is not there...they didn't hang it up! They took it when I dropped off my entries, I didn't get a call or anything saying it was inappropriate. I'm not quite sure what's up with it. I'm more curious than anything.
It's kinda fun having the photos out at the fair. I'll probably do it again next year. They had many entries...probably 300 or so I'd estimate. |

Did you give them a model release with the photo? Wonder if that was the hang up if not.....

They did not require a model release (I had a color portrait also entered that was hung up.) I had, of course, asked the couple (friends of mine) if they would be okay with me entering the photo and they said go for it! So...I'm not sure. I think it's one of two things: either it bordered on something they felt might offend the delicate nature of this midwestern town, or because of the pose, etc, perhaps thought it was a copyrighted studio shot - not from an amateur? I dunno, but I will find out eventually. |
