I like the square crop; I think it's effective for the shot. The colors are vibrant...the sky appears on my monitor to be a bit more purple-ish than blue, but the image itself is a bit surreal so it doesn't make a difference. The flower itself is a bit soft, and the cut-off leaf tip is a bit distracting. I personally don't care for the centered composition but again, it's not a biggie one way or the other. The horizon in the background kind of cuts your flower in half, but I'm not sure if lowering to have more sky behind the flower would be better, or if standing on something to get higher up and having the field as more background would make a difference. With the title, I'd probably go with more field and less sky. :)

| I tend to agree with laurielblack. I find the sky cutting your flower in half and it seems to confuse the eye as to where it is supposed to focus. Also, the flower does look a little dehydrated (unhappy flower syndrome! lol) so I would look around for a nicer, plumper flower. I think I might even try to make the yellow a bit brighter and the sharpness of the flower petals (or overall flower) could be a bit more. But, I am a bigginer so really this is all from what I see, as a beginner... :) |

Picture this... models walking down the isle in European Fashion show (most likely in France some place)... one of them is this picture...
no emotion... a fashion model...
That's what I see.
(Please no laughs)
Oh, I forgot to tell.. It is a very nice picture though... I too like the square crop :) I could see this photo on one of my walls :)

I wasn't going for a happy plump flower...i was going for a realistic flower, hence the darker processing. |

| Specialk0783--I was teasing...sorry. But I would like to see a happier flower. I garden alot and know that flowers have thier prime, but if they wanted to do a flower that wasn't quite "prime", then I would agree that a little darker processing would work. But, we are looking at a sunflower. This type of flower is associated with brightness and happiness. If they wanted to make a statement with the sunflower not at prime, to show a darker side, I would think a starker, harder edged edit would be appropriate. But, like I mentioned in the first post, I am but a beginner at this...I may be way off. |

it's cool...thx for the comment.
Anybody else before my thread gets buried in the busier-than-usual forums? |
