i'm sorry - it's the rules . . . the more you believe in your photo, the lower it scores ;-)
oh, regarding feedback. i didn't find the colors very interesting or compelling to the photo, and i didn't find the subject of the photo very interesting either (i gave it a four).

it didn't hold my interest too much... I would much rather like to know what you the photographer thought of the picture. |

You failed because you bothered to read the text that goes with the challenge title, or failed to read the text wrongly.
You should understand the challenges this way:
Color - Take a picture of the most colourful object you can find.
Symetry - Take a picture of the most symetric object you can find.
Bridges - Take a photo of the most bridgelike object you can find.
etc.

A square format might have worked better, or an off center inage, All the neg space left and rigt detract from the image. tighter crop - Also what is that big dark thing in the middle center? It becomes the center of viewer focus and is certainly unattractive. The variable focus (some in some out) of the three little thingies in the middle is a flaw. I gave it a four - too many details unattended to. |

i think it's definitely a good exhibition of depth of field. people probably didn't like it because the color is pretty muted. i think it's a cool shot

I really liked it. A clever idea done well.
I totally agree with Ellen (and John's critique) about a square format suiting it better, and getting rid of the black 'thing', but I do like the variable focus on the 'thingies in the middle'.
I know how you feel. I thought I had the technology challenge totally nailed with my entry, but you learn to expect the unexpected here : ) |
