Hi,
I am the proud new owner of a D70s and am hoping somebody can help me my stupid question :/
My image settings are fine/large/JPEG, when I open the images in Picasa they are only 2.5 megs. This seems small to me and am wondering if this is normal. I have read elsewhere that the file size should be around 17 megs or so...Sorry for the silly question, any info would be much appreciated.

| First thing you have to do is change your DPChallenge profile. Mr. Nikon Coolpix 8800. ;^) |

Sounds okay to me. I think the only time you'll get 17ish mb files is when you shoot in RAW, whatever the Nikon equivilent is.

| Mine is a set same way and i get a range from 1-2.5 megs on a picture with Dimensions 2000 x 3008 and it is saying 2,239Kb JPEG Image |

| The D70 is 6.1 MP so that sounds about right. I have a D50 which is the same 6.1 and that's about what I get for file size. |

Wow! thanks for the help....
With the D70s in the house, I haven't even looked at the 8800. What a difference, especially in the overall speed and image quality.

RAW will be about 12mb, TIFF will be much larger than 17, and is quite unneccesary. unless you want to deliver finished pics to Alamy anyways.

| NEF Raw files on the D70s are approximately 5mb. My 1gb cards register 179 with no files, which is about 5.5mb. |
