Well...I would not say weather, but it effects it. I would say clouds are weather. Haven't gotten it for my 5700 yet, but I definitely want a UV haze (protection), but I loved the circular polarizer for landscapes, etc. I imagine there tons of different ones to get, but that is my priority.
Are you using the NextPhoto adapter for filters? What size if so?
I am here in CO with 75+° days and barely any clouds. I may have gotten lucky yesterday, late afternoon, when a windstorm blew through. One outtake, not related to what I plan for the challenge.

Doesn't that make it more of a challenge? The challenge then becomes to find a way to make your photo stand out in the crowd.

Well I certainly hope that voters don't just think of weather as clouds! I'm getting kind of tired of folks with so narrow an interpretation of what challenges are. Weather, of course, is what is in your sky RIGHT NOW, clouds or not! |

agright,
Landscapes look best with the sun low on the horizon - warm reddish light from the sun near sunset and bluish shadows from a clear sky. In the morning, the light is yellowish and the shadows a cool gray. Unless you are trying to depress people, stay away from cloudy weather. |

I know your post isn't intended as a criticism of clouds per se, but I just have to put in a a good word for pictures of clouds.
I spent most of my life on the East Coast before moving to Southern California. Many of the 15 years I've lived here have been drought years, with hardly any rain, hardly any sign of a picturesque cloud in the sky, and basically hazy, smoggy atmosphere 95% of the time. By around July every year, I really want to kill the guy who wrote "Blue Skies."
I've scheduled vacations to New Mexico in August just so I can be there to watch the storms blow through every afternoon!
The storm that blew in this morning is likely to be the last sign of any kind of rain or decent cumulus cloud formations I will get to see until next November.
I hope lots of people submit pictures of clouds. To me, it's like giving me water when I'm practically dying of thirst.

Please drop by my gallery of Cloud and Sunset pictures at pBase. There might even be a couple from Southern California... |

It seems to me that no one reads the challenge guidelines anyways. The effects of weather are everywhere, on everything. I should have just taken a sappy sunset picture or dew drops, then I guess my picture would rank higher.
No offense meant to anyone that took pictures like that, they can be good artistic pictures. I just decided to take a picture of the effect weather has on something in the environment. I figured it would score higher than it is just because its not of something generally associated with weather, but more its effects.

If you like clouds, you could always buy some of these shots by Chris Anderson. Folio here
Overviw
Think they are normally $350 for a set of 6"x6" prints... |

Can you tell me where I could get a good set, and how much they would cost? I don't want to spend too much but would like a set that would take add on filters or telephoto adapters. |

I said EYES dude.... i heard that transplant surgery is available though in third world country fairly cheaply.... :)
In all seriousness, landscape photography if you select the right time of day do not require additional filters and put it this way: anything you add will make the image worse.
however if you must take photos on bright sunlight, use a polarizer. It will add a tint of blue no matter how good it is, and if you use wide angle it can turn one side of the image dark in the sky versus the other side, so use it judiciously.

i avoided the clouds/sky, sunset/sunrise pix..(just followed the suggestions here...but it turns out to be disastrous...my worst score so far..but its okay thats the name of the game here. You must please all the voters) i tried to enter a unusual image, but still conformed with the theme. Honestly speaking, the clouds submitted this challenge are good.
i'm so happy with a comment i recvd with this message....
"I have to award you for daring to be "different"
thanks. |
