I've been using the new Capture NX beta to process some photos from a wedding I did for a friend back in early June and thought some of you might like to see the results...

File From Camera :

After Basic RAW Conversion :

After Using NX :

As you can see, there's a huge difference... I do think that the colors are a bit too saturated, but that's more a result of changing color profiles for the web... The original in NX wasn't nearlly that saturated.

Some have said that they feel NX is a little too slow, and while I might agree with this and with the feeling that the UI is a bit confusing, the control gained with the U-Point techonology makes masking off areas so fast and so easy, I'd say it more than makes up for it.

Of course, as always, your milage may vary...

I like the middle one the best...that third one is just WAY overly processed...I mean, in a bad way.

The third one is a little over the top but the second one is rather dark and dull to me. Something between them both would look good. I'm assuming you have more control over the final image and could lessen the effect of 3 in NX?

As I said, the third one wasn't nearly that saturated in NX. I'll have to go see what happened to boost the color so much when it was saved for the web...

Here's another shot at it with a little desat after the resize...

or is it still to much for your tastes?

I played with it for about an hour and was having a hard time navigating and finding things. Have to open too many little arrows and such to get anything done. Don't think it is that user friendly. I am abel to get the same results if not better, much quicker through CS (but then I have been using it a long time).
