Munster Report, Day 1:

Nasti picked up Joey, Roz and I at the train station after 25 hours of travelling (ish...a little less for Joey). Back to casa Kapluggin where a night of debauchery ensued. it went a little late (6am for some of us) and I found myself bicycling in a farmer's field as the sun came up with a glowing multi-coloured beacon on my head. I can't explain most of it, but there ARE photos. (I'm currently soliciting pay-offs to keep certain photos hidden).

Waiting for Philos and a few others now...we wandered through this little village this morning and feel compelled to go back and take some photos. There aren't too many 700 year old churches in Canada, so I'd be remiss not to take a picture of Joey doing some freaky contortion thing in front of one while I have the chance.

Beer break.

Whoa, what a lovely city!! The people here are very friendly, but the beer....... :(((((

Anyone know a decent beer place? The best we´ve found so far is the Blue House, but it has like 7 beers, all are too sweat! :)

Ok, time for more beer :)

Blue House is pretty good, actually the whole area around there is good, just check out different places!

Pedro, Joey and Shecoya are here now, we got the barby going and a crate of beer already empty...... gonna be a long night :)

We went around drinking beer all night, trying difference places. Still havent found the GOOD beer. Ended up at some coconut beach or something late last night, we got very drunk but had a great time.

We were gonna invite you all for a party and free beers tonight, but the hotel wouldnt allow us to bring people, but we figure we can sneak in at least 20 people for a nachspiel late tonight. :) The room is 50m2, and a balcony on 20m2 that can fit at most of you.

We´re going Ludinghausen for some driving now, but will be ready to drink at 7pm.

DanSig, we´ll join you and everyone else at Stadthotel Bar at 7pm

Cheers!

Pedro, I don't think you know what's going on, do you? This was NOT a nice thing to say.

if there is something wrong, i'm sure he doesn't know. he's the least likely person i know to say or do something to intentionally be hurtful.

I agree, as a guy, that response of "you suck" is the same as saying "Bummer! We really would have liked to meet you and spend the day shooting pics, discussing PS styles etc. Hopefully things are ok and we'll get to see you soon! Take care!"

However, in guy speak, we like to keep things simple so we just say "you suck". :-)

I just felt terrible all week after they've pulled out some teeth in the hospital which afterwards caused an inflammation in my mouth. I gave it a try this evening and started my journey to Sandra's ( Majanka ) place where I'd stay over, but at the central station of Utrecht I decided to go back because my head felt terrible.

There might be a chance I'm coming tomorrow, but I'm not sure yet. First of all I won't be able to be there at 8.30, because the train from The Hague to Muenster doesn't leave that early. I just spoke to Hanneke and Sandra and I promised to keep in touch about whether I'll come tomorrow or not.

Well, it will not be the same without you, Elvi, but I hope the teeth and mouth get better soon.

And without trying to make matters worse, six of us met up in the bar this evening and were later joined by three others at the "restaurant". It was really good to meet Steve (Pawdrix), Lev (ltsmiring), Sandar (Azrifel), Luc (Nessnaj) and Daniel (DanSig) in the bar and then to meet Peter (aKiwi), Sander (lowonenergy) and Wies (highonenergy) later. Man, there was some serious bodies and glass on display and the cameras were kind of cool too! (sorry...)

Anyhow, early start tomorrow so off to bed now.

As to shots, here is one I took in Delft en route to Munster. I thought this was a beer barrel in the wall of the house in Delft, based on my poor knowledge of Dutch when listening to the tour guide. I figured that this could be an emblematic theme for the GTG. Turns out I heard wrong and that this is a butter barrel - sigh!

Arti,
sorry to hear about your tooth troubles. I really wanted to meet you, you've been one of my "most" favorite fotographers among other favorite photographers. I hope you get better soon, and perhaps join us later today or tomorrow.

Obsidian,
agreed, we had a great evening yesterday, except for food which was less than spectacular, but beer more than made up for it :). And if you are looking for a symbol of the workshop, this might be it

(j/k nessnaj)
Here is a subset of yesterday's band on the streets of Munster

Oh yes, we had a blast yesterday, indeed. What a great job they (Gary, Nasti, Philos, Olga, Martin, Liz, Fritzi, Pia, Serdar) did! Thank you guys so much!

(did I forget anybody? Oh yes, Pedro - he was absolutely great at the projector :))

I'm sure the shots from yesterday's session will start pouring in as soon as people wake up and start editing. Having a jetlag advantage, I am up already :). Here is just a couple of shots from a zillion or so I took (most of them hardly need any editing at all).

Oh.. Sher, this one is for you
