I decided that because it isn't raining out, and this is the last day for my Glass entry on the front page, I'd take a walk over to Henry's and get myself a flash.
I've been griping about my onboard flash for a while now, so what the heck. I got a Sigma EF-500 DG Super. I wanted to get one of those cool lightshperes too, but they didn't have any, just cheesy little vinyl dookickies.
Yay me!
:-)
Any Canadians know where I can get one of those lightsperes? I think a name attached to them is Gary Fong?

Oh yeah. Any idea how many flashes four lithium batteries gets you in one of these flashes?

Just be careful who you go flashing now, or we'll be seeing you on another front page!

Try here. I just ordered one last week (still waiting) and ordered the Sigma flash as well from Camera Canada (it's on back order ). Hope you enjoy it and I'm looking forward to playing with mine whenever I get it :)
I was told to get the P3/C3 model to fit the Sigma flash...in case you were wondering...

I just went over to Vistek to pick up a Lightsphere. Just to make a note to this thread, it turns out that the P2 is the model which fit my Sigma EF-500 DG Super. I brought my flash along to be sure.

Hmmm...well I was told the P3 fits and I've already got it (came in yesterday). Still waiting for my flash to come off back order so I can test it out. I'm hoping I get it shipped soon because I keep adding things onto my order... :) |

Doh! Oops, I just PM'd you. Thought you might not catch this thread & I might save you some hassle.
Maybe the P3 will also fit the Sigma EF-500 DG Super. They're pretty flexible.

I just picked up a lightsphere an hour ago. I got my flash a couple of days ago. I was playing with the Second Curtain Sync last night with some smarties on an old turntable. I'll post up the pic when I get home tonight, nothing to rave about, but fun enough. :-) I also blinded my cats. :-D

The lightsphere came with an instructional (and sales-pitchy) DVD by Gary Fong. I quite enjoyed it!

I haven't looked at the DVD yet. My flash was delivered this morning, so I'm itching to get home and try it out. Wonder if anyone would notice if I ducked out of work early... :) |

Finally! Post back & tell if your p4 lightsphere fits your flash. After the video I'm wondering if mine might be just a smidge big (but still OK).

P3 actually, but I know what you meant :)
Yeah, I'll be sure to let you know if I have any problems. Laurie's the one who told me to get the P3 so I'm pretty sure it'll fit just fine. |

| Had a bit of trouble getting the Lightsphere on the flash...kinda tight, but it's on. I'm going through that DVD and it's very informative. Now I just have to wait for my batteries to charge and I'll be ready to start shooting :) |

If you're shooting just general fill -- like outdoors...500 shots are no problem at all. If you're doing macro work, stopped down to f/16 and shooting near 1/1 -- maybe 100-150 shots if that.
I went to Sam's club shortly after getting into macro photography -- 16 pack of AA's 2400mah with charger was 24.99...Energizer brand also. I through my old 2100mah Energizers away (they were 4 years old and still kicking though).
