Your bug is pure black with bright red wings.. looks like a spawn of satan or something stephen king dreamed up. I would have thought it packs a bit of a punch but I probably would have chased it until the sun went down to get a shot of it too lol. Great shot btw. |
It never once occured to me that bug could hurt me. Tarantua Hawks have an appealing metallic blue sheen to them that fascinated me, not captured well in my picture.
I should know better. I watch the Discovery Channel all the time and I live in a very harsh desert environment where all the plants have spines and most animals either run fast, are poisonous or bite. If you can get close you should be scared. :) Thank goodness I have been lucky to this point.
You'd think I'd know better.
I'm a lost cause, though. I never learn. I couldn't tell you all the times I got a Cholla cactus stuck to my butt leaning over getting a picture. Funny as that might seem I can tell you this, it hurts like hell and is hard to get out. I've had to take my pants off to do it. Pretty sure some of the ladies would like that but I've mostly been alone. ;) I'm sure it would make a funny video watching me get it out. LOL!!

Wished image came out better. It was much larger, and because of the crop much of the clarity was lost. Used a spot lens effect in post processing which I colored almost turquoise.
