Yay! I like the sound of this challenge, now, who is willing to lend me a 500-600mm lens so I can go into Paparazzi mode and snipe out some beach babes for this challenge? Anyone???

It's not fair, I live 1/2km from the sea and 2km from a big lake. Decisions decisions :~) |

Sigh. Middle of steenkin' "we don't get no rain" Texas. We don't even have sand - just dry, dusty dirt.
So what was the other one?
Oh, and Bear? Are you gonna be gone all of September? I need to work my travel schedule... :-) |

Now see this type of stuff upsets me. I was just at the beach from July 7-9th and took some decent photos...but of course this challenge doesn't come up until after I return...and this weekend I have plans and can't make it to the beach....Why must you torture me DPC??? WHY???? |

There's a nice little beack at the lake nearby...but after all the rain we've had, it's under water. Like, a foot deep. *sigh* Time to get creative, I guess...

Hmmm... I guess it helps to live on an island, eh? ;) |
GRRRR!! Waving my fists didn't help. It's raining for the first day in weeks, and the only day expected to rain. Hubby even took the day off cuz Becky-Lee and I both had it off, were gonna drive up-island to a veddy cool spot and shootshootshoot. Ain't happenin' now!!
Yeah, lots of beaches within 10 minutes of the house, but I wanted to go to THIS one! Waterfall, etc etc etc. I'll still be in, just disappointed about having to cancel today :( |

I'm right there with you, but I was thinking more like which island will I go to? Kauai, Molokai,Lanai,Maui,or Big Island...too many choices so little time. |

Do you really think that items removed from the beach will fare anywhere near as well as a shot where the beach is clearly visible?

There is one there with a BIG waterfall. It would be cool to see that one! :)
I'm tetering between which exclusive. I think lines, but there are some wonderful beaches here in Florida. Hmmmm *pondering* |

Challenge Details: Take a trip to the beach and make a photograph of something you find there. For the purposes of this challenge, a "beach" is any strip of land bordering a body of water, be it ocean, lake, pond, or river.
A lake or pond is not on the beach. The challenge should be re-named waters edge or something. I`m sure non beach shots will be voted down because many people don`t read the challenge description fully.

I'm going today! My battery is charging and my card is ready. I'm armed with filters and tripod. lol. It looks like a better day in this neck of Florida Idnic! Try going back. It will be cool to see what we both come up with from the same state. Welp, hopefully I can find something. I am sure I will and I don't care what the whether does. :)
Anyone else from Florida entering beach? |

I might end my 4 1/2 month absence from challenges and go to the beach today, maybe South Beach.
You ought to head to Panama City Beach. I was there on a boat just off of St. Andrews State Park and Shell Island and got some awesome shots last month. |

Dude, that is not NEARLY enough magnification, you need a bigger mm lens, like 600mm or so and some camouflage so people can´t see you. What the heck did they teach you in paparazzi school, manners? :P

I'm going to Destin Beach I think. It should be as good if not better then Panama City. Panama City has to much hustle and bustle. Destin does to but at least I know my way around there. There are some really wonderful scenes and shots that can be done. I am hoping to get one of them ;)
There's only one problem with Florida and that is flat or hazy skies at the beaches because of the humidity this time of year. It's a lucky day to get good sky with deep blues and nice clouds. Today looks promising though.
I only wish my ND filter had arrived yesterday though. I will probably be leaving before the mail arrives today and could have used a bit of help if I go at peak sunrise. I will do my best with the f/stop and my polarizor anyway.

Yeah, Destin is beautiful with smaller crowds. That area that I mentioned however is crowded with not just people, but with tons of Dolphins too. I swam with them and took almost 300 shots of them when I was there.
As far a the hazy skies go, you have turn the negative into a positive. Try for the amazing sunsets that results with something of interest in the foreground. Also, If you wait for this evening, your ND filter might arrive. |
