Well I just got through voting on the fireworks challengeâ€Â¦going back for commentsâ€Â¦most of the shots looked very similar to one anotherâ€Â¦impressed with all the well shot and technically good shots of them from most of the contestants. There were a few that stood out and tried something different and those are the ones that got the extra points from meâ€Â¦I think the majority came out and showed they can take a very good shot of fireworks but a few actually made a piece of art in the same timeâ€Â¦well done.

I'm itching to try out a technique I've read about in Japanese photo magazines - but I don't think I'll be able to get to a fireworks display until at least 22nd July... I'm sure it would be a stand out in such a challenge as this. ;-) |

Sorry, it must be a bug in the SC programming -- it shows up on my Profile > Comments Received page, but not if I click on the comment number under the score on the front page.
Sometimes SC members see the pages differently than members, only it's often hard to tell that it's happening. |

Today the shots on the front page for both the LA Times and the Press Telegram were fireworks and they were terrible. They should hire dpc'er to do their work!

If i were a member (will probably sign up soon) i would have submitted this. i didn't see anything quite like it entered. it's a heavy bottle rocket blasting off from the beach.

I understand how protecting voting integrity is an issue, but personally think this detracts from the overall learning process.
Should we really care that much about voting?

This is more a matter of forum etiquette than voting integrity ... also, I think we even voted on this policy and everything.
Besides, that was a really big image, not a thumnail or text link ... |

oh jeez. sorry. i certainly didn't mean to ruffle any feathers. i just saw that there was a fireworks challenge and ran out and shot something without realizing it was members only. i had an image i really liked and wanted to share it. i'll be attentive to this no outtake policy in the future. (i'm still kinda green here)

As soon as the voting's done feel free to repost it. There'll likely be an outtakes thread started for that specific purpose, so watch for it and share your shot :) |

Just remember item 5 from the forum rules:
Please do not post large images directly to the forums. When posting images to the forums, be aware that some readers access the site via dial-up, and that in some countries, Internet access is charged per KB downloaded. With this in mind, images larger than about 30K, or more than 500 pixels in either dimension, should be posted as links or thumbnails. |
